Livefest is the Northwest’s first green music festival. A host of international acts including Alabama 3, Hayseed Dixie and Shack, as well as the cream of local and unsigned talent, will be performing at the one-day event at Liverpool Cricket Ground, Aigburth, on Saturday 11th August. Livefest is Liverpool’s alternative contribution to a festival season packed with the same line-ups, an event that the whole family can enjoy, with a green outlook supported by Unison and following the principles outlined in their campaign Green Unison, including the use of renewable energy sources, boosting energy efficiency and creating a sustainable and integrated transport policy. Best of all, you can win a pair of tickets to Livefest, including accomodation for the night and the chance to meet the bands playing. Need to update some info on this: here’s the official line from Livefest: “After much deliberation and discussion, the decision has been taken to move Livefest to Mountford Hall for the Saturday August 11th date in Liverpool. The move has been made to take account of the great British weather – which has been raining pretty much everyday for two months - and the effect this has had on the Aigburth cricket ground. With more rain forecast in the coming weeks, safety concerns have led the Livefest team to conclude that in the circumstances the best viable alternative is for the festival to take place indoors at Mountford Hall.” At least the event is still going ahead – the competition on the Livefest Myspace is still open too!
