Long ago in the dusty past events occured that altered the lives of many of us. We had a half-way decent candidate running for president, more enlightened than any other. We had our music standing strong in oposition and our voices were united. It seemed as if there was hope for the world and that things might actually get better. The candidate was executed. The musicians died from "overdoses" or were gunned down in front of their homes. Our brothers and sisters were murdered at Kent State and for the first time we saw what we were truely up against. The beast had reared its hideous head and sought to stop us. The voices of opposition were being stuffed out... Many of us gave up and joined the beast and forgot our ways and our beliefs of what could be, how it should be. Many of us too never gave up and have been spending our lives infiltraiting and working the system trying to make this world a better place from within. I call to those who have given up to come back to where you once belonged and remember the dreams we shared. Look at what our world has become. George Bush as president!!! Wake up and remember "the soft parade" we must act soon.
I'm 22 and my husband is 23. We are both children of quitters. Meaning that our parents gave up too so that they could afford all the niceties for us while we were kids. Now we want to change things even if it's just for a few people. We want freedom. The 60's really seems like an awesome time and I wish that we had been able to participate in it. Anyone for giving peace and love a second chance?
