can i get my 14 1/2 month old daughter into daycare (with a possible job for me in the same place) even though she isn't up to date with her shots and i don't plan on getting her any more??
Yes! http://www.vaclib.org/exempt/idaho.htm Basically, you sign a form stating that you have objections to immunizing your child. If there is an outbreak of something vaxxed against, you'll be forced to keep her home until they give an all clear (could be up to a month or more). But yes, you can.
Depending on the law in your state a private daycare has the right to refuse you on the grounds that you don't want to follow their policies. However if you insist that religious exemption will take care of it most providers don't know the ins and outs of the law. See if you're state is listed here. This organization was really helpful. They had a lawyer call me in less than an hour to discuss my options. I was in the EXACT same situation. H
All the day care really cares about is having their records up to date when the state inspects. As long as yu submit a statement that you are claiming an exemption, religious, medical, or philosophical, depending on the state you live in, that covers the day care. As PP stated, in some states they have the right to refuse you if you don't immunize, but usually they don't. When my son was in day care I copied his immunization form. Then I filled in dates on the copy. Then I made a copy of that and sent it to the day care. It gave them a piece of paper in their files. That's all they cared about. Kathi
Every state has a religious exemption, most have philosophical exemtions. http://www.unhinderedliving.com/statevaccexemp.html See link for your state info. Either hand in an exemption or an up to date shot record. Doing both often causes conflict. You can obtain a blank shot form on line just do a search.
http://www.vaccinechoice.org/index.php/site/C29/ whoops, here is the link I was planning on posting. Sorry! Lame-brain signing off
