Okay, it's got to the point now where I'm getting sick and tired of living in Wales. After coming back from Glade I've realised that I need to leave. Things are too monotonous and there's nothing here for me. So, I've been thinking of traveling the UK for awhile. If anyone has any advice for cheap travel and general tips, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you are willing to offer your home as a place to stay for a night that would be greatly appreciated also. Thanks guys! x
I would look to becoming a member of the YHA (youth hostel association): www.yha.org.uk I haven't looked into it but I do know there's a membership fee. This will give you cheap digs and also the opportunity to work at the hostels. I've noticed a lot of people starting to hitch again so that would be a good way of getting around. If you needed a place to crash I'm sure I could accommodate a few nights if you wanted to travel north, that's if you can tolerate my vociferous outbursts and archaic attitude, anyway the offer would be there. Good travelling.
join the yha used to hitch quite alot. was going to suggest wales! have a wander on the pembrokeshire coastal path , especially around st davids yha have fun
Thanks for that link Mellow! I'll give it a look. I'm kind of looking to get out of Wales, Guy. I've seen it all before and it bores me.
Become a member of the Hospitality Club. It's a bunch of people worldwide willing to let you stay at their place for a short time. I've used it to travel through SE Asia and met some great people and also had some people stay at mine. In fact I have 2 guests coming from Argentina next week. www.hospitalityclub.org Travel safe, travel free, Aidan.
Hey Luke. If you were to come down this way (or over this way) we'd gladly let you stay a night if you needed. Not sure why you'd want to visit this pisshole though. Just PM me or something. oh ... and well you'd have to not be allergic to cats.
That's what I am doing from August! I am so fed up of London I need to get out and find new places and meet new people, who knows we may even bump into eachother at some point - I'll be the one in the corner of some dingy old pub with my book and a pint!
well then why not try south , lulworth cove for example try the walk from weymouth to swanage, you'll probably need a tent just camp slightly off the track of a night, take a darned good sleeping bag though. the yha at lulworth cove will make a good rest point. as you head east you'll come across tyneham i think a village evacuated during ww2 check out the school and the poem up on the wall. be aware the walking track from lulworth is part of the tank range for the army and be accessed on certain days. seasonally i'd say between now and september is the best time to see this part of the world. theres a yha in swanage i would say try scotland but unless you have a good tent that definitely won't leak a very good sleeping bag and a good pair of waterproofs don't bother. try the lake district instead there are many youth hostels around the lake district, check out windermere, cut across to thirlmere yha. the great thing about england is the number of places you can visit just by walking or hitching. check out avebury circle and bodium castle if you are in that neck of the woods.
