i just got the hendrix band of gypsys live newyears 69-70 show today.
i like these buys better than the experience they accully play where u can hear them when hendrix goes guitar crazy, they remind me of jpj and bonzo gettin all bluesy and just lockin in together when page does his stuff.

great lp, i recommend it to anyone.

Band of Gypsys is a must have!

They played two sets that night, and both can be found on CD these days. I also love the groove they have together. My only complaint is buddy miles vocals on Who Knows, at one point he takes it just a little too far, and even Jimi winced a little when hearing it back.

Not only are they great players, its a gig at a classic venue and at the close of an era - by the end of this set the 1960s were over.

Machine Gun is the greatest song Hendrix ever played.

I think his Gypsys era was good for him (Jimi)... Buddy Miles was tighter and funkier, whereas Mitchell had a looser, jazzier feel, so there's a more soul vibe to the playing to my ear...

Good stuff! ... and yeah, Machine Gun is definitely a Jimi highlight.
