I'm going to make a pipe using clay. How many holes do i put in it? just the one that goes from the bowl to the mouthpiece? because why does glass pipes have another hole off to the side? please help asap..
You need another hole that is somewhere between the mouth piece and the bowl. When you hit the bowl you cover that hole with your finger so all the air gets sucked through the bowl. Then when it's filled up with smoke you take your finger off the other whole which clears the remaining smoke out of the piece quickly.
Some do some don't, it's just a feature to make the smoke extra smooth. Most metal wooden and stone pipes don't have it
Without that extra hole a lot of smoke is wasted after your hit, since the piece is still full of smoke which leaks out after your hit.
Yeah, your gonna want to put a carburetor aka a rush hole between the stem and the bowl, this will allow fresh air to rush in and clear the chamber. This will let you get more out of your hit.
is there a type of clay you could make a pipe with at home or do you need like to use a real kiln or whatever?
Oh yeah, you should probably only smoke out of it if it's the clay you fire in a kiln, not some self dry shit.
Ditch the clay idea. It wont work. Unless you want to use a clay pipe and take tons of time on it for some reason. Just grab a 6-8" piece of like 1/4" pvc piping. Drill a whole 3/4 of the way from one end. make a bowl out of tin foil, throw it in that whole, and you have a steam roller. Much easier.
