hey, i'm only going into my sophmore year of high school, but i was thinking of possibly applying to an art school for my college, instead of the community college or something. so i wanted to know a little about art school. anyone here go to art school or graduate from it? did you like it? how were the other students? i'd love it if you guys could tell me a little about it all. thanks. peace<3
hey, i go to art school.....MCAD...minneapolis college of art and design....its pretty cool but fucking insane, like hours upon hours of work each day but if you love doing art its great...
well, it's not exactly art school, but i recently got accepted to vu (indiana) into their art program. my advice? don't do community college. i did a year at one. there's no on-campus living, all commuting. no "campus life", no fun. it's more for mothers who want to further their education, and needs a school that works around their work and babysitter schedule. go for an actual, on-campus experience. my sister goes to a different vu in indiana, and she's having a blast! and, when you graduate from high school, it's not a bad idea to take a year off first. lots of people do it.
yeah, i'm thinking of taking a photography and/or filming class in my community college, and then going to SVA in manhattan. on campus. my older friend is a grad from there and i talked to him about it, and it really sounds like i'd enjoy it. but wow, there's a lot of artists i have to learn about just to apply.

Northern Michigan University has a really good art school or CCC in detroit that is an amazing art school. i would check them both out.
Community college is a good idea if there is a good one around you. The one by me is one of the best in the country so I was lucky. Going to community college will help you get accepted into most schools, but it all depends on if you're ready to move away or not I guess. I've heard at art schools the people are really pretentious and douchey... I'm really glad I didn't go to art school honestly. I found a university with a really great art program. Less pretentious douchebags. So thats what works for me - community college for 2 years just chillin and then transferred to a university with a good art program. I only just started here at the university but it seems like a gooood thing. Well good luck whatever you do!
