So my mom lives out in east florida, and theres alot of open land and cowfields with no houses on them. It's been raining alot lately and none of our dealers have shrooms, so I was thinking of looking around for them.

Is it the best place to check, or maybe woods and more closed in areas. I've just heard that shrooms can grow in cow "waste" and such, is easier to find there. Let me know what you guys think, either run around a field at dusk or go check the woods?

psilocybe mushrooms do grow pretty abundantly on cow shit, however you always have to exercise good judgement when eating wild shrooms... but you already knew that, rendering this post pointless.

ya always look at the gills it can mean life or .. death .. :( .. . the gills or small markings are sometimes the biggest difference between a good shroom & a poison shroom. . .especially right now this time of yr alot of poison woodland shrooms arent fully developed so they can look almost like a good one with very tiny differences. . and ALWAYS remember if ur skeptical about a mushroom then u probably shouldnt pick it

The shrooms you're looking for actually go in or under the "waste" itself..so bring some gloves or a good stick..be sure to handle the "waste" with care so you don't break the shrooms when you find them..most likely underneath...

look in the woods. i live in south bama where they grow abundently. trust me, they grow all over in decomposed cow shit. never fresh. look in the woods first then go to the field so u have more hunting time with less likelyness of being seen. just remeber orange to white tops. dark gray-brown gills. purple skirt (from the spores). white fleshy stem, and bruise blue. happy hunting

Some edibles and poisonous mushrooms do bruise blue. Blue brusing alone is NOT an identifier of a psilocybe, but it is something that makes that mushroom worth a proper ID.

Yes, some edibles and poisonous mushies bruise blue, but will not have all the other characteristics, a flush white stem, etc.
