I want to go backpacking thru europe... stay at hostels, or the streets, etc.

But being in the US, i'd have to fly.
I was wondering if anyone knew any cheap airports, what part of europe should I fly into... to start my wandering across the rest of it ?

And I only speak English, would this be a problem?
I can say like three words in German lol

And any other advice too, i have never traveled much

    thanks

    Hi Boxo !
I have never travel by plane, so I don´t know how is the situation in airports. But maybe middle or east Europe is cheaper in every way.

I mean that with English you won´t have a problem, maybe with pronunciation ;) Definitely in the smaller countries like Czech Rep, Slovakia, Switzerland, but maybe also Germany (I know how big G is ;) )
Also my experiences are that a French people know to speak English, but only if they want :)) Italinas never. They speak to you in their native also if you´re trying to explain, that you don´t understand :)
In Andorra a lot of people speak Spanish, but we also came to an understanding with English.
I heard that Greeks are better in German or Russian language. I´m not sure, how is it in the other countries.
However, I def mean that if you will need a help, there are a lot of souls who will help you without language. So good luck.

In most European countries you'll be able to get by in English...if you stay to popular/tourist destinations. So, Czech Republic will be fine, if you stay in Prague. Germany will be fine, France will be fine, but they don't like speaking English. Greece is fine, Cyprus, The Netherlands, Scandinavia. However, you shouldn't expect these people to speak English to you...you should make the effort to speak the native language of the country you're in. It's good manners.

    You scared me.
All the countries you mentioned above are fascinating to me.And my gf has been dreaming for a Europe travel for a long time. It's so great to get married in such a travel, and especially in Greece, she likes it the most.
But I'm an asia man, even English is not my native language, and there are too many languages in Europe,"to speak the native language of the country " means "impossible" to me.
    oh......
Maybe i can find some native friends here.
