Ok... here goes. I'm going to be turning 17 relatively shortly, and I'm heavily thinking about trying acid for the first time. I consider myself to be a very deep person and I'm wondering what exactly LSD does to me? If it "expands my mind" would I be see new things? Would I understand the meaning to the infinite universe? I know that no one can predict how my trip is going to turn out, but what are the potential outcomes of this? Also, what are some useful items to bring along with me on this journey? I've heard a couple highlighters and some paper... but what else?
The best thing to do for your first trip is to be prepared to let go of everything you've ever learned and be ready to learn it all again. When you trip, you basically see everything through the eyes of a 5-year-old. You have a completely unbiased view on the world. You're able to take in all the good and all the bad of everything and be comfortable with it. That being said, some people are not ready for the truth to be pushed in their face like that. Tripping can bring out the most intense happiness you'll ever feel, but it can also give you a very harsh view on reality that some people consider too intense. You won't exactly see new things, but you'll see old things in a different way. It's kind of hard to explain, really. One of those things you have to try. Most likely, you won't actually learn anything during the trip, but you should be left with a head full of questions to ponder sober. Tripping is only the key to the universe, it can open the door very wide. You still have to enter on your own accord. Useful things to bring would be drinks, something to write/draw with, a musical instrument if you play, if not at least headphones, and your very best, most trusted friends. The potential outcomes are that you could just see a bunch of patterns and colors and have a great time with very little learned, you could find the key to the universe while having the time of your life (best case scenario), you could find the key to the universe while balled up on a couch crying, or it could bring out underlying mental conditions (worst case scenario). There are, of course, other possible outcomes, but these are the most common. All warnings aside, have a great time. Acid does have its dangers, but they can (most of the time) be easily avoided by tripping in the right place, with the right people while you're in a good mood.
well, after acid you will not be the same, so thats the question, do you want to change? in my experience it has been for the better and im happy with it. for your first trip i would either suggest a light dose - 1 or 2 hits, or if more, i would suggest a trip sitter. you should know the place that youre going to trip at, know the people youre with, and do not trip with ignorant chicken suckers that are going to mess with you. i would not suggest tripping at your house, unless your parents are going to be away for 10 hours or more. bring an ipod, herb and papers, lighter, maybe a musical instrument, or whatevers good.
uh.... have there been any recorded cases of a personality changing towards a more aggressive one from a chill one? I'm definitely not going to want any chance of that.
Actually, my ex-roommate is kind of like that. Ever since he ate 17 hits, he's got a lot colder view on the world, which makes him kind of snappy. Not too bad, but he's more willing to give the hard truth now. Keep in mind, though, that this is just one case with no real scientific evidence.
When you trip, the normal things you do in every day life become more difficult and it can be frustrating to try to do things. So I would recommend being around at least one sober person who can be there to help you. Don't drive. Glow sticks are fun
oh yeah, highlighters and paper, you might also consider bringing about 6 or 7 years more maturity, because from the sounds of it your expecting more then what your going to get. Do a lot more research on this drug before you take it. Emotional insecurity is the bain of LSD. If something big is going on in your life, aka fight with friend, big exam its all your going to think of during the trip. This is why people wait a few years before taking L. Now I'm sure ill get loads of people telling me how they were 7 the first time they took it,don't bother.I'm right about this and the other 6000 people on this site would agree with me. Stick to weed. Its deadly. It makes every TV show hilarious and really relaxes you.
i dont think you have to fear lsd changing your personality. you remain who you are, just you see things differently. if anything it will free you from certain fears or anxieties and let you be the real you. lsd for me was not what i had imagined despite my "hundreds of hours" of reading trip reports and stuff. you will have an exceptional clarity of thought, bah got to go
Thanks, Peter Popper. That's exactly what I was looking for. Well, I'm back to Texas tomorrow and I'll be trying it soon. Also, thanks everyone.
