So in Aug. I'll be on vacation again for close to three weeks. Mid Aug. so I have about a month until then and I figure I need to save every penny I can. I love to cook and have good meals but food is an easy way to cut out expenses.... So anyone know any sites, recipes or just ideas for cheap meals? If so, post them here. I'd like to spend less then a hundred on food for a month but still have yummy meals.
http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/recipeindex.htm I use lots of recipes from this site. http://www.tammysrecipes.com/ There are some good ones here too, as well as a lot of tips.
Um, because the internet only costs 40 dollars a month and is way too useful. Plus I think I'd have to pay a cancellation fee or some shit like that.
a good way to save money is to eat a lot of staples...you know, beans and rice type stuff. bags of dried beans and bags of rice are dirt cheap and go a LONG way, not to mention they're healthy and nutritious. make a big plate of spicy beans and rice, add a little broccoli or something on the side, and include maybe a half a chicken breast...thats a meal, not too shabby, and not to pricy.
tuna - i got 10 cans for $10 salmon cans are pretty cheap too soups PB&J's jerky, nuts, dried fruit, granola, oatmeal for breakfast (a nice big bowl will fill you up for a while, add in the dried fruit and granola, and you're all set) - real oatmeal too, not that minute oatmeal.
There is one farmer's market that is open on Tuesdays around here that has cheap, local produce and meats.... (that is reallly good) But everywhere else around here that is much more expensive but thanks for the idea.... this Tues. I might just have to stop in there.
Haha crum... I HIGHLY doubt I would qualify for food stamps. Nesta.. great ideas. I was thinking something along those lines but wasn't thinking to get them dry (cheaper and better too).... Chris.... Mwuah! You know you are the freakin best. I LOVE salmon cakes as a cheap meal and forgot about that oddly enough. Soups are good too (you know I love to make them) and don't be like "WHA" but I don't like oatmeal
ehhh, not really. really, if you take the time, organic products are about on par with non organic for 80-90% of products...and the extra 10-20 cents you pay is worth it with all the benefits.
pasta, jars of sauce and tuna are all cheap in the UK, don't know about the states. also try and eat a big breakfast each day, you won't be hungry the rest of it! S
