Enyu, you make a lot of good points. The anger and blind, irrational hatred I've seen in this thread is a prime example of why a lot of pedophiles repress their condition, possibly leading to them "lashing out" by having sex with a child, or abducting one.
Personally, I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of, just as being gay or being sexually attracted to old people isn't. People cannot help their preferences. What they CAN help is their actions.

Let me ask everyone reading this a question:

What would you do if you got to 18 and realised you were still sexually attracted to 12 year olds? You realised that your sexuality hadn't changed at all in 6 years — you had the sexuality of a kid. How would you feel?

This is a serious question, and I'd like some answers.

My own answer would be that I would probably hate myself, and feel paranoid. But what I would do about it, I don't know. I don't think I would kill myself. I don't think I would tell anyone. I think it would suck. Would it turn me into a rapist? I can't think of any reason why.

Does this happen to normal, decent people? From what I've read, yes it does (assuming you can deem someone decent based on their values and principles, and not on their instinctive attractions). I don't think these people deserve to be looked down on. We should just be thankful we don't have to live with such a condition! How would you even begin to come to terms with it?

 

The difference from 18 and 12 is 6 years. Plus the guy in your example is 18, not far removed from 12. We're talking about guys in their 30's, 40s, 50s and 60's in some cases here.
