'Neighbours' is the only soap I ever got on board with. Can't remember why or when it first started, but as far as my TV watching days go it was always there. Didn't really watch much as a kid. Wasn't until I was about 9 or 10 I suppose I 'discovered' it.

I did have a bit of an 'Eastenders' phase. But that's just because it was put on by friends who would actually leave unless it was shown!

Would you call 'Diagnosis Murder' a soap? I guess it kind of is, isn't it? I love that show :) It always saddens me a little when I sit down for 'D.M.' to find it's been switched with 'Murder She Wrote' for the next two months :(

    Neighbours :)

Sentiments like gary hobnobs is expressing - is the reason I do not watch Eastenders anymore - it is as far removed from the ''EastEnd'' and can be.
    It is cringe worthy.
gary hobnobs I think the cafe is called Big Breakfast Cafe - oh those clever little sods at the BBC.

I like ''Diagnosis murder'' / ''Murder She wrote'' / Columbo as well.
Gee whiz I need a job.

I am a coloured person with British/Caribean roots and I live in a changing world - we should all come together. In the spiritual sense I hasten to add.
So I wondered where you come from - so I can add you to the glorious tapestry of the people I know - through out the world.
Please do not tell me you come from Derby [about 30 miles from me].
    I'll be very dissapointed.

This metaphor for having it all - has not reached Leicester.
It still sounds like a pretentious ''westword'' appreciation of life in the UK - that does not reflect the general consensus.

I don't have much time for TV anymore, but I always try to catch Hollyoaks. Waaaay too much eye candy to miss out on. Plus, the only way you leave Hollyoaks is by being killed off!

I did think of one soap opera type show i like, at least i think it would be classed as that. I really like Hotel Babylon when that's on. Not sure if it's actually a soap opera though.

Nagh I think a ''soap opera'' is a ongoing episodic serialiasitions of ongoing plotlines. The name soap opera stems from the original dramatic serials broadcast on radio that had soap manufacturers such as Procter and Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive and Pepsodent as the show's sponsors. These early radio serials were broadcast in weekday daytime slots when mostly housewives would be available to listen, thus the shows were aimed at and consumed by a predominantly female audience.

I feel like a housewife these days.

Hotel Babylon is more of a comedy drama series [as a end is always in sight].

As comical as that would be paul - no.

No I get up and clean the house for 20 minutes and then sit on my ass for the rest of the day - watching shite on the TV or talking to men on the Internet.
Jumping up out of my seat about 4:30 when I realise I need to make some dinner.
