what is the difference between a shroom trip and an acid trip? is it true that shrooms induce a more mental and phsychological trip, whereas acid is more visual and intense?
Shroom trip is shorter and less visual than cid and yes I would consider it to more mental/psycological.
Of course it's all dosage dependent, but I think it's pretty well established that the visions tend to come more easily on mushrooms and lsd is generally described as a more congnitive, psychological high (in terms of a more clear focused mind and an influx of interesting thoughts). This has been confirmed in my experiences. I'd say read more about it, especially read the works of the psychedelic "illuminati" (Mckenna, Leary, etc) also here is a book that offers good descriptions of the differences between the psychedelics: http://www.erowid.org/library/books_online/essential_psychedelic_guide/essential_psychedelic_guide.shtml
LSD lasts 8-12 hours and shrooms only last 3-7 hours, which is a pretty big difference. Also; LSD is more visual, also in lower dosis and a lot less confusing. It doesn't mess with your thoughts that much at all, although higher doses can get 'overwhelming' because its so.. intense. Shrooms on the other side, are more confusing in lower doses and only get pretty visual if you take a lot, they are more confusing in any dose really, and generally have a more 'deep' feeling. Both are great trips by the way.
Umm, LSD doesn't mess with your thoughts? Please, please, please, PLEASE don't post things like that. People go insane on LSD - literally. LSD can affect your thoughts PROFOUNDLY... "Do not take LSD if you do not want to go out of your mind" - Timothy Leary MarkW1 is basically right. Shrooms are more confusing and more of a heavy, deep feeling, and LSD is like an extremely light, electric feeling, but it is much more energetic and "sharp." LSD's visuals are also much more detailed. You will see your hairs dancing around on your arms, etc.
Let me tell you how profoundly LSD will mess with your thoughts. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249242
It is hard to describe the differences though anyone who has done them both could distinguish the two in a blind study. LSD is more energetic, positive, and thoughts are often directed to the abstract and somewhat less organic forms. Visuals can be incredible on either substance though LSD induces them at relatively lower doses. Meaning visual alterations are noticed at a dosage of LSD that has relatively fewer alterations in emotional/psychological states (compared to shrooms). Shroom visuals can be as amazing/intense as those on LSD but they are different (more gestalt, less derrivative, more difficult to control through cognition) and it requires a relatively high dose to achieve this level. Mushrooms are more likely to have somatic effects of the dopaminergic/serotonergic variety, such as nausea, though these are present mostly in the early stages of the trip. On the other hand LSD may have subtle bodily side effects of the noradrenergic/serotonin variety...and these can be experienced throughout the duration of the drug. This includes mild tension, sweating, headache, peripherial anaesthesia (rare). Overall I'd say that shrooms incduce a calmer more introspective experience while acid is more energetic, cognitive, more abstract and externally focused. The most consistant difference is the duration, LSD lasts 1.5-3 times as long as mushrooms.
^I don't recommend that unless you only have low doses of each. If that is the situation then it makes complete since as the effects will more or less be additive to achieve a meaningful experience. IMO L combines better with various phenylethylamines.
Well, I have only done this once. 2 hits LSD @ 7pm. 1/8 of sillycibon chocolate @ 1am 1/4 of sillycibon chocolate @ 5am 5am, best peak in my life, meditating to the sun rising over the city. Then my vision became a kaleidoscope of naked bodies and sex organs mouths puking into each other and my head was a sound scape studio lost in space. The effects of the mushrooms coming on while the LSD still pushed through me is almost beyond words. Eternally getting brighter is one way to put it. Organic material nature overgrowth on a space station is another. I loved it
