ok, im not much affected by gruesomeness, ive seen execution vids, gruesome games etc and allthough i realise how messed up they are i was never physically affected. right now im shacking and feel sick and restless, i advise everyone to watch it- i think it just made me become a vegeterian, not because eating meat is wrong, but knowing what happens to it first. eurgh :puke:

shaking and feeling sick (and guilty?)... this is how i felt when my eyes were first opened to the cruelty in the meat industry. and the feeling hasn't left me yet. i haven't seen this particular vid yet, but they're all the same... it's always the same thing. no matter which factory farm you film, it will always be the same horrible conditions.

i hope you're serious about considering vegetarianism... it took me a few weeks of watching the vids and arguing ethics/animal rights with other people before i actually took steps towards avoiding animal cruelty. i can tell you have (at least some level of) compassion, though, and that's a very strong state of mind to be in.

Ironically I was surfing youtube yesterday and came across this video as well. It is one of the worst factory farming videos i've seen in my day ... Sad to say, but i'm not a vegetarian. I was for 5 1/2 years of my life, but then I tasted a big mac again.

I want to eventually go back to a vegetarian diet, but i've been feeling so much healthier the past 6 months of eating meat. It's a non-stop ethical war that plagues my mind.

Yeah, there's no way you'll get me to watch this video. I've already been converted, proud to be a vegan. I do remember though, the thing that got me started in animal rights was a video about the fur industry. They showed the animals being skinned alive, and then running around in pain after being skinned, completely naked. Finally, they were killed by being grabbed by their tails and slammed into the ground. I really just despise the meat, dairy and fur industries, and feel as if they represent the greatest moral wrong doing which has ever occurred on earth. If you eat meat you're simply allowing for this horrible filth to continue, and the blood is on your hands...or rather in your stomach. I really don't understand how anyone could eat meat and then walk around thinking they have a clean soul. Meat is just not good for you anyway, and it tastes like ass, so there's just nothing redeemable about it. Do yourself, these animals and the environment a favor and stop supporting the most detrimental industry which has ever been in existence.

i have to disagree with you here. for most people, meat tastes delicious, it was when i was eating it. unfortunately, this is one of those small barriers some people aren't willing to cross to become veg. people seem to think that the taste of meat will be something they will miss, when, if you look at food options, there's so many delicious foods you can replace meat with. for instance, an avocado has more digestible protein than a whole chicken. and i think avocado tastes better anyways :D

my mom eats those TVP fake meats and we can't really tell the difference as far as taste. she cooked this italian 'soy' sausage the other day and it tasted just like pepperoni. :D mmmm

and... as far as factory farm videos are concerned, this one was pretty mild actually. not nearly as gruesome as some of the other vids out there. look up the videos of tyson chicken/turkey farms. those are pretty sick.

p.s. kyndveggie... you feel healthier eating meat? i feel much better, lot more energy, etc since going vegan. my mom eats vegan with me and she finds that she feels much better too. i don't understand how you can feel healthier eating big macs? please help me understand where you're coming from...

It's because when I was vegetarian I baisically lived on junk food. Little debbie was the base of my food pyramid, haha. When I incorporate meat into my diet I tend to cook using more grains and vegetables than I ate when I was Veg. When I started eating meat, it was only supposed to be for a little, maybe a month ir two ... and i'm seriously considering going back to it. The only problem is my roomate is a meat eater, and there would be alot of conflicts in the kitchen. :D

ah i see- when i first went veg, i cut out meat cold turkey but i didn't know how to cook for myself, so i would live off junk food. then i learned how to cook the staple foods...and then you can work the rest of your meal around that... it's just like cooking with meat... but not. haha

..and you have to cook food for your roommate? why did you go vegetarian in the first place?

Lol a clean soul... that's a good'un. How can you judge somebody like that man? That's fucked up. You sound like one of those whiny useless protestors calling all meat-eaters murderers and lifeless, heartless fucks. Being vegan doesn't give you a moral highground. Meat tastes great, and can be good for you. So there is 'redeemable' qualities, for me at least(Actually meat tastes FANTASTIC, which is quite a large step beyond great[IMG]). You sound like you are trying to impose you ideals with the above quote tbh. Are predatory animals bad because they eat meat? And to get this meat they kill and completely rip apart their victims. Should we feel bad about this 'torture' towards innocent creatures? No, fuck no. It's natural, as it is for us to eat meat.

Humans eat meat, they were designed for it and have been doing so since they learned to hunt. Of course all this shit they do to animals in factories is terrible and horrific, but don't say I've got the blood on my hands. You're not better than me, or anyone just because we eat meat and you don't.

Just be vegan and have done with it.
Just be veggie and have done with it.
Just be a meat-eater and have done with it.

    Yay all happy.[IMG]

I'm the food bitch, shes the hair bitch.

I coock, she does my hair, haha. :D

I actually went veg because I watched 'meet your meat' ... the Peta video, but for some reason I can see those horrible things, and still indulge in the flesh.

well you see this argument doesn't work because you aren't a predator (carnivore) animal, you have higher cognitive functioning than any animal, meaning that you have a choice(omnivore). of course eating meat is natural for an omnivore, but there's a difference between what animals do and what humans do.

the real difference is, the animals these predators kill, until the moment of death, live free, fulfilling lives where they can socialize (not trapped in cages and separated from family), willingly produce offspring (rather than being artificially enseminated), eat healthy foods grown from the earth (rather than injected with steroids), can walk freely (instead of being trapped with their own feces), and live their lives in the sunlight (not in a metal building).

now, how much of that stuff is 'natural' ?

those are the reasons that the meat industry is bad the animals dont live free before death it is natural for humans to eat meat but it is also natural for animals to live free.

All of it I mean OBVIOSLY!(jus kiddin) I know all that and that it is terrible it's just I felt sorta offended at him saying I don't have a soul, or a clean soul(whatever that may mean) just because I eat meat. What sort of person judges someone like that, or has the right to? The main point I was trying to make is that I am not bad because I eat meat, and his post sorta came off that way to me. That in some I'm just continuing this evil torture cycle just because I'm tasting some delicious foods.

Tbh it was mainly the 'blood on your hands' line that got me. I just hate hearing shit like that. For the record, I didn't watch the video because it's not something I want to see as I myself am completely against animal torture/living in poor conditions etc. However I'm obviously not blinded to the fact that often that IS what happens to these animals that I eat.

my mum just made me a bacon sandwich, and the meat tasted foul, i took 1 bite thats it. i could see that very bacon rolling around in a pool of other cows blood with a slit throat and almost decapitated head, still fully alive and concious. im not going to eat red meats anymore, just lean white meat like chicken and turkey.

i am the same way as you!
i can watch the animals being killed and hear the stories and it makes me sick, but i can still eat the meat.

i guess i don't have a strong enough will power to become vegetarian
