Don't know what a group is, where have you been? anyway click here to read a bit more http://hipforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=475 If you would like a group please reply to this thread, groups can have a leader, which would also mean people have to apply to join, or be leaderless, which would mean they would be open to anyone. so reply here if you want to be a member and if you have any ideas, also if you wish to be considered as a potiential leader say so here also S
I feel quite satisfied with the existing format. I'm not aware of any downside to the Writers Forum Group, yet. If one is formed, I'll likely sign on to it. Having a moderator for Writers Forum is an improvement, since there is an individual who has made a commitment to monitoring the forum, resolving problems and answering questions.
you get out of it what you put into it. when i couldn't log into my groups, it sorta took the wind out of my sails, i had such plans for it. i think i'll get back on track here pretty quickly. they're handy for organizing information, links and stories, and i think that once people get the hang of it, they'll love it. but just like when skip changed from the old format to this one, we all pissed and moaned and whined. then we got used to it, and found it pretty handy.
well, as someone who's a complete idiot about so much, i've done many a google search. what i love about the group forums is that it's a basic formation that is immediately recognizable to an outsider. it's simple, it's clear, it's basic. you can navigate about and decide if it's the place for you. you can put forth your own words and ideas about something in a manner that's immediately recognizable to anyone who's curious.
and this forum or any other won't change at all its just another area that will benefit it. Hey KC do you think they can tell we're eager? S
it should also be noted that membership in any group does NOT preclude membership in any number of groups that appeal to you. the entire thought process behing the HF groups is to simplify and make more readily available an entire community of people and resources without having to pass through the inevitable hazing process that most fora require. many of you have been to random thoughts: you KNOW what i'm talking about. a compendium of people and sources you wouldn't otherwise find. i think it's a beautiful concept. it just requires the commitment of members to make it perfect.
wow, i think it sounds like a great idea. i don't know if i'll be able to participate thouh. (i'll be posting in your forum in a minute to explain why, sam!)
You are correct in all your statements about the groups! Thank you SO MUCH for actually thinking this concept out for yourself and explaining it so well! I don't usually have the time and patience to explain this all. Unfortunately I just assume everyone is as interested in new features like you, and can figure this out themselves, but that's not usually the case... Sorry the access has been such a pain. I'm pretty much blind to what ppl can see and can't that's why I need feedback if something's not working (and patience too). P.S. LOVE your new avatar!
I also want to thank Sam for taking over the mod duties for this forum. It had been well abused and Sam had a huge cleanup task. Perhaps now it can return to being a mellow, creative space.
Question: Should we have a separate Poetry group or include that within the Writer's group? I think poets are a different story, no?
