We bought a house! Its located 15 minutes outside the "city" we currently live in, in the village of Halbrite. It was built in 1910, hase 3 large (for the time) bedrooms (2 upstairs, one down). It has french doors going off the living room onto a giant deck, which overlooks our yard. The house sits of 3 lots, has a garden and a shed and is full of mature trees. Basically, its our dream house!! Can't wait to get out of this apartment we are living in!
Congrats! That's incredible news! I love the sound of the yard. You'll be able to put up a swing for your bambino and he'll have lots of space to run and play. When do you move in?

thanks everyone! It needs a lot of work, like it needs new drywall on the main floor, and it needs new a subfloor, flooring and drywall upstairs. Its been being rented for the last 3 years, and the renters weren't that nice to her, but its all things that my husband and myself can do on our own. I really love it. It was a great price, and we actually got it for several thousand less! lol. Fridge, stove, dishwasher included, as well as water softener and water heater. We get the house september 1st! Can't wait!!! So excited! When we walked into the house I got such a great vibe from the place.. I knew it was going to be a great place for our family!
I know that feeling!!!!! We got that feeling when we walked into the demo house we based ours on! It was the last one we looked at and the first step in the door we knew it was right. That is crazy cheap btw... I don't think there is one house in my town that is that price. Judging from the pics and specs that home here would be priced at around $70,000 - $90,000 if not more. That is fantastic!
the prices here in the "city" I live in have gone up this past year, but this property is far enough out of town that it has yet to be effected by the boom. A house like ours would probably go for about $80,000 CND here in town, and you wouldn't have all three lots sell with it.. they would be sold separetly. Also, the trees wouldn't exist...lol.. those trees were planted many, many years ago, and they belong to me, as much as a tree can be owned. Basically, it would be pretty much impossiable to find a "package" like the one we got in our city... which is one of the reasons we looked for something outside the city. I can't believe we got it for the price we did though! If the boom continues, we could sell off one of the lots for basically what we bought the house for... but I don't know if I like that idea.

i've hestitated to respond, because i'm so freaking envious. i want a home of my own so badly. i had one for a while, i miss it, ghosties and all. trips to home depot for that perfect doorknob and a new fitting for the sprinkler system around the roses. the right paint for the baby's room. i really miss that. congratulations.
i totally understand how you feel! We've been living in a cramped apartment for so long! We've been looking at houses for almost a year now, but nothing was the right fit... or had too much wrong with it (like a leaning kitchen or the only bathroom being located in the second bedroom). I know you will find a house that speaks to you again!
