Hi everybody, Im hippie from Slovakia. If you will go sometimes to my country, just say it to me and we can meet)))))) have a nice dayand peace in your heart
Hey Alisea, welcome to the forums! You will love it here. I am not planning on visiting Slovakia anytime soon, but who knows?! I am near Nürnberg in Germany. Say hello soon.
hey Sista I was in Slovakia 3 weeks ago .I have only 40km to border I'm Your neighbour from Poland Peace!
aaa, ahoj, Alisea.. Nie som zo Slovenska, ale z Èeska... ale mám vela priatel u vás... a aj moj.. no, on nie je moj frajer.. ale.. dufam ze bude takže.. WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!
ok,I'll try say the same in polish : "aaa czesc Alisea Nie jestem ze Slowacji, ale z Czech...ale mam wielu przyjaciol u was...a moj...nie, on nie jest moim chlopakiem...ale...ufam,ze bedzie takze.. Welcome to hipforums " haha,so similar FUNNY thing :you know what "frajer" mean in polish ??? --> asshole, idiot, very stupid man
Really ? That´s funny But there are a lot of words with different meanings. For example Slovak word ,,šuka" means ,,to have a sex" but not much fairly, in the polish (I´m not sure how do you write it) means ,,be looking for...". There are lot of jokes about differences between polish and slovakian languages.
Friends of mine raved about Bratislava. where would you recommend in Slovakia for visitors , Alisea , Nirali and all? Also my grandmother's side were all from Prague and the Habsburg Empire area. ( so Id suspect that includes modern say Slovakia). Is it easy to trace ancestors around there?( btw I know Prague is Czech Rep LOL but arent there similarities). Best wishes all.
Raved in positive connotation ? I can you recommend something, but tell me what is your idea about your road ? What do you want to see, or do ? There are a lot of great places in Slovakia, but the problem is, that there´s not a big standard in tourist trade. So the travelling can be little bit wild For example if you will come to visit some castle and you´re late for five minutes, they needn´t want open it longer for you and you must change a plan in the minute. This sucks. And also, not in every tourist place are tourist boards with informations in foreign language. But yes, lot of foreigners are comming here, also to Bratislava, ´cuz there is a good night life, everything is cheaper (we haven´t got Euro yet), historical buildings, the native girls are pretty I love my country, but I thing that Prague is more beautiful than Bratislava, but in Slovakia is beautiful also smaller cities and towns. Nature is great too (mountains, subterraneans, forests, mineral streams, without sea but lot of aquaparks )) Yes, you are right ! Habsburg Empire included also Slovakia. Wow, so you have roots here ! Well, I´m nor sure how is the situation in Czech Republic, but in Slovakia are institutions which help you to find your roots. Lot of Americans comes from this reason. (sorry for my English)
Oh, but I mean, if the situation with tracing your roots is good in Slovakia, it cannot be bad in Czech Rep.
Hi Nirali Your English is perfect. Almost as good as my Slovakian.. ( ok Im lying about my Slovakian) Yeah Bratislava they loved it. Hmm well I was thinking Slovakia like a 2-3 day break , or part of a week round Eastern Europe , or tied in with some business. What I'd do would depend on who I was travelling with. But a bit of sight seeing round the towns , nightlife , general chilling out , and any otherspecific recommendations perhaps eg sports or something.Maybe a bit in the countryside if I had enough time. ( not too much mountains tho asa friend of mine fell off one ...) The bit about pretty native girls did prick up my ears abit , I must admit-me being a *typical* Scorpio LOL Id def give a thumbs up to the Slavic girls Ive met on my travels.( but thats probably a different thread...) I think one of the main things about a good trip are the people. InPrague some were a bit "oh no more English people" ,w hereas the Poles seemed to love British people.(maybe cos they havent seen many of us yetLOL) Best wishes Ps I wonder if Ive got any Czech-Slovak relatives now..( scratches head: )
Thank you Man, but I found other mistake (or defect, I don´t know). I edit last answer, it should be: ,,...it CANNOT be bad in Czech Rep."...oh,oh.... OK, so I can teach you some slovak phrases for better looking in eyes of pretty Slovak girls (I understand, I´m also Scorpio And have your friends ever been in Slovakia ? It looks yes. That I´m glad, that they liked it. But be careful, 3 years ago a I met in Slovak camp one Italy boy who hitchhiked through Europe and he had reserved for Slovakia 2 days also as break. Well, at last he was there 2 weeks But maybe for somebody are two days too much. Hmm, I mean that similary depends on when do you come here (which season), because a lot of specially events are during the summer, so, if you want a night life, than cannot be good only big cities like Bratislava, Košice (on the east), but also small towns like Senec (next to Bratislava) which has except aquapark also Slneèné jazerá (Sunny lakes) where are a lot of night actions during the summer likewise towns with music, film and beer festivals. There are also events on the countryside, but most of villages are quiet but not bored, somewhere are castles (109 are protected), somewhere are typical old houses and culture, also farms, permcultures, I saw taverns with sirup in the beer. Yes and somwhere are nothing, only nature and curious people. About people who you met.....I agree absolutly ! Everything depends on the people. I felt lonely when I was on the festival with ten friends, but I had a great time when I was without somebody (nobody had time to go) at the other festival. Btw, in the Prague there are a lot of tourist, when I was there first, I didn´t met native soul, except sellers But I have never met British. Ad relatives...maybe yes! Oh, I´m writing so long....sorry. Have a nice day !
Sounds interesting Nirali.Who knows I could become a straight A student? Nothing rude tho' - I am a thrice weekly churchgoer ( ok I am an endemic liar...LOL) Unfortunatly tho' , I've got a terrible record with my use of foreign languages. I went out with a Russian lapdancer who thought it was funny * not* to teach me Russian properly. I'd think I was saying "lets go and get a drink at the bar" .Unbeknown to me , really I was saying " I like to sleep in a bath of custard and wear my mother's clothes". ( I never did manage to sell anything to that customer...) In Holland , I somehow managed to mix up the words for "wall mirror" and "blow job" Hmm , Ive never been near that furniture shop since ....
Lol...you and straight student, well, being funny (also with your knowing of languages)is good way like to find some heart )) I also have this ,,problem". When I was on my road to Andorra, some friend from Switz was not sure where is it and I wanted to say that it´s a small country between French and Spain, but I said ,,small country between French and space". My ex-boyfriend seized his head.

Used to be Czechsko-slovensko, now is divided in two parts - Czechsko and Slovensko, but something about a region called Moravia stayed in my mind, I actually do not know if it is in the Czech republic or in Slovakia, I am too lazy to check in the wikipedia, can someone explain that please?
Georgi, Moravia (Morava) is the east part of Czech Republic (Česko). Yahminah, your Slovakian is great How long did you´ve been there ? I´m looking for job now, but if you will be near to my city (Prešov), just say ! The one Rainbow gathering will be just in Czech Republic, as I know.
