If one of your relatives is diabetic and cannot consume sugar, but you yourself are very wary of aspartame, what can you recommend to consume instead? are there any safe alternatives to sugar?
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/diabetes-diet/NU00592 i typed in "diabetic sugar substitutes" and got this
I don't care. Many people use it and don't experience any immediately noticeable side effects from it. Same with Aspartame. That doesn't mean it's good for you, or that it doesn't pose any health risks or side effects. Splenda (sucralose) is created artificially in a lab and is essentially chlorinated sugar. It's nothing people should be injesting into their bodies, and many doctors and researchers will tell you the exact same thing. Do some research on it and come to you own conclusion if you don't believe me. Stevia. I love it and am not diabetic. I am very anit splenda.aspartame etc. I would rather be fat than put chemicals in my body.
Agave nectar in moderate doses is now proven as safe for dabetics too...and that stuff is super yummy.
I would NEVER recommend ANYBODY consume splenda or aspartame... All of you have to do is search "aspartame" on youtube and it will blow your mind how dangerous that stuff is. It's one chemical step away from formaldehyde, it depletes neurotransmitters in the brain, contributes to neurotic behavior and moodiness, it's been linked to creating tumors, and the list goes on and on..... Stevia is excellent though. I would highly recommend getting the liquid dropper bottles of it...It has no glycemic index at all but tastes just like sugar, and comes from a green plant, so it's actually very nutritious instead of a highly processed and extremely toxic chemical that happens to taste like sugar.. WOW that is such an amazing vid, avacado. Thanks for passing it on. Im a starter vegan. What exactly constitutes raw though ?could you eat crackers? haha. Im going to go look it up. Thank you for all your input my dears, im going to research that stevia a bit
That video gave me chills the first time I saw it Raw food is basically fresh organic fruits and vegetables and anything that is sold on http://www.rawfood.com , and you can get flax crackers on there that are much healthier than wheat and gluten containing crackers
You can get stevia with fiber in it too. I have stevia plus int he individual packets and it tastes great as long as you don't put too much in
I just swore off artificial sugar for the most part. I'm not diabetic but I suspect PCOS (I have basically all the symptoms but one, but I'm having insurance issues and can't get to a gyno) and I'm using South Beach diet guidelines to lose weight, so I don't have sugar. You'd be amazed at how much you lose your taste for sugar if you don't have it. I had a sip of a friend's diet soda a few weeks ago and almost spit it out, it was so sweet. When I did use Splenda, it gave me some scary reactions. Granted, I'm allergic to nearly everything, but this was enough to REALLY scare me.
I like the liquid kind of stevia better than the powder, but I like them both. They do seem to have different tastes though... you can also get vanilla liquid steiva, other flavored stevias at health food stores.
