I have no sense of smell. I have never smelled a damn thing in my entire life. I have never smelled the sweet aroma of weed, or flowers, or fresh rain or newly cut grass. Hell, I've never even smelled a fart. That sucks. What sucks even worse though, is when people get some really good weed, and they're all like, "Hey man, smell this!" I look at them and say, "I can't." And they're all, "Oh damn, I forgot about that. That must suck. So you can't even smell if somebody farts? I guess that would be a good thing." Every damn time. Just wanted to get that off my chest.
Two questions: 1.) Can you taste food? 2.) What do the doctors say about this? Thanks, and good luck.
1. Nope, no taste either. Well, at least not subtle tastes. I can taste the basics: Spicy, Sweet, Salty, Sour 2. Doctors say that there's nothing they can do. I just have to live with it.
I guess if I had to loose one of my senses, I would pick smell, Especially if you can taste your food (somewhat). It still sucks. I'm sorry for your situation.
Why be sorry man? It's not like I'm attached to a feeding tube and can only communicate through binary.
I read about a guy with the same thing. He became the head of the biggest garbage dump in America. It was the job that was made for him.
Wow, that's really interesting. I would be afraid to eat expired foods or not being able to smell smoke from a fire... Are any of your other senses heightened because you are missing one? I know that happens when people have hearing loss or blindness.
Well, my hearing isn't that great, but that's because when I was in Band, I sat in front of the bass drum. For six years. But otherwise my vision is pretty great, it's at 20/15. Pretty cool. I can breathe out of my nose. I don't see why I couldn't.
lol i did drumline all through highschool. Let me tell you i know about hearing damage hahaha. It's unfair that loud things ruin your hearing tho....i love driving with my music blaring loud.
There has got to be something cool you can do with that. I think that there is way more bad smells than good smells, so that's an up to your situation. I guess the down is to not be able to smell dangers.
i dont think expired foods are that big of a deal, people dont usually eat it because of nasty taste yes, but most expire date are just averages, most food is ok a few days after still. anyway if the food becomes really hazardous to health, it would show (meat going manky/green/dirty looking etc
No way! I would much much rather be deaf than blind. I love seein shit lol But either would suck. Sucks that you can't smell man! Smell also affects taste. I feel for ya man cause I love food! lol All my senses are pretty good. I have great sight which has never got worse (knock on wood), the only problem I have is some minor troubles smelling because I hav sinus and allergy problems and I have minor hearing damage to my left ear.
I've thought about this a lot and it's a little strange, but... I only know 3 deaf people....and that is their only handicap...but they're all.....really fuckin crazy. like weird crazy almost to the point where you think they belong in a padded room with a straight jacket. and I've come to the conclusion that they're crazy because of the loud voices in their heads...see they can't hear anything, so the sound of themselves thinking is so loud that they become crazy from it.... thoughts?
I noticed this too. I had a deaf friend, he was totally fuckin' crazy! Somehow he knew how to say Fuck you, LOL!
My hearings becoming progressively worse. I'm helping build silos, and I have to work inside, and every time the drills, and saws, and grinders and stuff go off, I can just feel my hearing slowly disappear.
