I've decided to make one big thread on a bunch of herbs. INTENSE TRIPS Ayahuasca -Intense psychedelic experience. See DMT forum San Pedro/Peyote/Peruvian Torch -One of the ultimate psychedelic experiences. Contains mescaline. Pure mescaline would probably be one of the most popular psychedelics if it wasn't so extremely rare and expensive. The above cacti cause nausea, and are fairly expensive ($20 a dose) for a legal high. You can't just eat the cactus plain either, you need to brew it into a tea. Hawiian Baby Woodrose (HBWR) -Closest thing to acid. Feels similiar, but there is heavy body-load (your body feels heavy) and it makes you feel tired. I presonally love the tired effect because it is one of the few psychedelics you can fall asleep on. It's activity is usually attributed to LSA, but wrongly. It contains a number of lysergamides, which probably all work together to produce an LSD like high. LSA, or ergine, has no effect on it's own beyond making people sleepy. It also makes the insides of you thighs really tense and they hurt. You can walk it off though... it's much worse with morning glories. Morning Glories -Same Active Chemical as HBWR. I wouldn't recommend buying from supermarket or local store because they might have cyanide and other pesticides on them. You need to eat more than with HBWR, and the negative side effects are more prevalent. VERY POTENT (can potentially get you as high as or higher than marijuana, although they feel different) Kratom -An amazing herb. It's very similiar to most opiates (opium, hydromorphone, hydrocodone, codiene etc) with a couple very important exceptions. First of all, it can have stimulating properties at lower doses. Secondly, it is psychedelic at higher doses. Thirdly, unlike benzos (valium xanax et al.) and other opiates it mixes extremely well with psychedelics. Most depressants reduce the effects of psychedelics, kratom possibly even potentiates psychedelics. This makes for a very recreational psychedelic high, with a smaller chance for a bad trip. Very cool. Kanna -Another great herb. It needs to be picked and fremented in a special way so it's quality varies from vendor to vendor. Snorting powdered kanna provides a quick and intense high. It is an SSRi. Rumor has it that mixing kanna with marijuana gives an extremely intense high. Sinicuichi -Very interesting herb. Increases memory, and has psychedelic properties. I highly recommend the 25x Sinicuichi extract from http://www.iamshaman.com/ . Can be smoked or made into a tea, smoking is MUCH perferable, since drinking causes gastrointestinal discomfort. Very good. Potent Smoking Mixtures - There are many smoking mixtures around. Spice and Spice Gold are probably the best (see my post here: http://hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229706&page=3 ). 99-0 chillin mix is supposed to be very good as well. You can buy that from http://www.psychoactiveherbs.com/ . Spice, Spice Gold and 99-0 chillin mix are all decent marijuana substitutes. LESS POTENT (but still very good) Kava-Kava -Crazy stuff. You can probably buy it at your supermarket. There are lots of kava-kava teas. I have experience with it at high doses and I can attest to it's psychedelic potential. It has a strong reverse tolerance meaning you should take a small ammount everyday for a week or two before dosing higher and/or expecting results. Mostly a relaxing mild high. There is some controversy about it's effects on the liver. Extremely large doses would boost it into the above catagory. Valerian -Structurally similiar to benzodiazapams (xanax, valium etc.). However, don't expect a great high. Usually made into a tea, but there is a great smoking blend called "nitro" at http://www.herbal-smoke.com which contains valerian and works decently well. It's a blend that you will definitely feel the effects of, however it isn't as potent as weed (of course). Pedicularis (Indian Warrior, Parrot's Beak, Elephant's Head and many others) -Coming Soon Yerba Yenna Yesca (Aztec Gold) -A very rare herb, sold as "Aztec Gold" commercially and in the smoking mixture "herbal woah". It has some decent effects. It's one of the better smokes you can buy online. Not as good as Nitro, and not nearly as good as Spice or 99-0. Not as mild as many of the other herbs I've mentioned. Not super potent either. Wild Dagga, Klip Dagga and Marihuanilla -coming soon Wormwood/Mugwort/Absinthe/Thujone -On their own wormwood and mugwort won't give you any effect. My friends and I bought a huge ammount of mugwort online and smoked it all the time. It's a fun smoke with no effects. I recently bought some wormwood extract from http://www.mjb-botanicals.com and had some mild effects. There is a very interesting report on erowid about wormwood extracts ( http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=14142 ). It's worth mentioning that thujone which is usually considered the active alkaloid has little effect. In this way, it is similiar to "ergine" (LSA) in morning glories. (Ergine on it's own just makes people tired, doesn't make them trip, but it's usually the alkaloid that's it's effects are atributed to). NEXT STEP DOWN Lilly/Lotus -Very mild high, but extremely good for mixing. Especially with marijuana. Best lotus can be bought from http://www.iamshaman.com/. It's in many many smoking mixtures. Lobelia - I've heard that this is a potent herb... I don't know much more than that about it's potency. It does have some cool properties though. The active chemical binds to the same receptor as nicotine in the brain. It will prevent nicotine withdrawl and is extremely good for kicking a cigarette habit. American Calamus -Milder plant. The root needs to be fairly fresh (6 months to a year and it becomes pretty bad). Some people report more intense experiences with this plant. Skullcap -Various types. Dwarf Scullcap is the most potent herb around (for smoking) but can't really be found anywhere online. Scutellaria Baicalensis, Scutellaria Nana, Scutellaria Latifora and Scutellaria Galericulata are the main types. Nana (AKA dwarf scullcap) is the most potent, and Scutellaria Latifora the least potent (and most common). Dwarf Scullcap would go in the comparable to marijuana catagory, and Scutellaria Latiflora would go into the "milder" catagory. Catnip - Easy to get, not a bad high. Very short lived. You can stick it under your tounge, or smoke it. Smoking is best. Damiana -Used as a base for smoking mixtures, tastes pretty good. Mild effects. Passion Flower -Very mild, sometimes good for mixing. OTHER INTERESTING PLANTS Mullein - This will not make you high on it's own. It does however open up your lungs in a way that will help the absorb other herbs you are smoking. Also if you cough after smoking it, it will clear out your lungs. Colt's Foot -This stuff won't get you high but it will make you cough like no other. If you're lungs are messed up stick a pinch of colt's foot in with some mullein and smoke it... you'll cough, that's what it's for. But you will also clear out your lungs. If you smoke this like nug or smoke too much you'll cough your guts up. That's all for now, maybe I'll add more later. I need to add Dagga (klip dagga, wild dagga and marihuanilla) and pedicularis to this list as well.
Come on man... You know that I have a legal/otc thread going..... You couldn't pass SOME of this information over -.-
you can eat the cactus plain. LSA's are psychedelic. they are not one chemical, but a group. valerian can't be smoked, the flame destroys the active chemicals. wormwood isn't similar to LSA's. and it does cause effects alone, if mild.
otb01: oh really? where is your thread? valerian definitely can be smoked, that's what i thought too, but then i tried that smoking blend. I read this report http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=32854 though. the lsa-wormwood thing was bad wording. EDIT: I CHANGED MY MIND. I AM GOING TO CREATE A WIKI. PLEASE HELP ONCE IT IS CREATED.
http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237693 Wait, isn't the wiki what we use erowid for?? =|
^no joke^ I'm not saying its practical to eat the plant, even though I've heard of people doing it. you say, though, "you can't", and I was just trying to correct your error because I thing people deserve not to be misled.
"Smoking Valerian shouldn't work. The psychoactive effects come from alkaloids present in the plant's essential oils, which are volatile -- they evaporate at relatively low temperatures. " http://www.erowid.org/herbs/valerian/valerian_info1.shtml
wait, wheres the wild lettuce tab?? also, calling san pedro a legal high is wrong. extraction of mescaline from the cacti including tea or any other preparation for human consumption is illegal and is prosecutable as possession of schedule I. unlikely, but still not legal
well its more commonly pleasant than those other ones. however, do way more research before ingesting it. huge risk with the deliriants.
you could say the same thing about ayahuasca, hbwr, morning glories, yopo. Infact, if you fully extracted any of those and sold it as a "high" you could be arrested. wild lettuce is very mild... there are a lot of plants i didn't include in there.
lsa is a psychedelic hallucinogen. just check out erowid. sure, it does cause sedation, but, that's not all it does. i've had some AMAZING trips on lsa.
