    lets back up here, though.

What did we truly get about the Ethiopian drought and war and ensuing hunger in 1985?
How much awareness was raised with the Live Aid spectacle?
let alone cash? (Ireland gave the most per capita, and the royals of Dubai, the most personally.
the problems started after the cash was raised, when NGOs were passed over in a decision to allow the cash to go to governments.)

in 1985, I was in high school. I can guarantee you that nowhere in my curriculum was a discussion of the Ethiopian/Eritrean war.
I'd be willing to bet most of my classmates thought Africa was a single nation, and would not have been able to find Ethiopia, let alone the highlands, on a map. (I was a geography freak, so this was old hat to me)

But after that concert we all knew.

Farm Aid brought a laser focus on the plight of farmers too in debt to the bank, and the loss of the independent family farms, BUT people are too concerned with prices, so the corporate landlords marched on.
(see the Meatrix and Store Wars videos for today's take on this)

So, for the people with their collective head in the sand, or the young and unfocused, or not yet aware on a what can I REALLY do level, maybe Live Earth will be of importance.
Promoting sustainable practices, and showing how well they work, is a great thing.
I'm trying to get the music association I work with to go to certain earth-friendly practices both at our concerts in our halls, but especially when we have outdoor festivals.
some of the tech used at Live Earth will have the chance to become industry standards.
    and tours are notorious wasters.

i know several people who deny that global warming is occuring. i also know several people who are trying to make a difference. al gore is trying to raise awareness and make this a non-political issue. several people, myself included, are doing little things like not cutting down trees, planting more trees, using only compact-fluorescent bulbs, and driving fuel efficient vehicles with good emissions scores. oh, and turning things off and unplugging them when they're not in use. taking shorter showers. reusing what you can, then recycling it. little things help tremendously, and people don't realize that these little things are all we need to do. what little change have you made? of course everyone has heard about global warming, the thing is, most haven't heard the truth. most don't understand it because it has been distorted and lied about. the thing is, even if they've been told the truth, they still deny it. what i meant to say with my post is that not enough people know the truth. if they did know the gravity of the situation, i truly believe that only the corporations would still be acting like idiots about it and continuing their old earth-damaging activities.

Maybe those trucks driving their loads to the diamond mines on the permafrost are actually adding to the problem. The polar bears are smart enough to move on and adapt, but the truckers and diamond mine owners well they've set up their models, and if anything like mother nature throws them a curve then their shareholders lose out..

Hard to follow what you have to say with your spelling, but I would guess you don't have a problem with people being sold out as long as it not by those in the middle east.

What actually are people talking about. The wars going on the jets and bombs and loss of human life, or a totally philosphical model about polar bears dying?

The main global crisis I see is WAR. I guess buying new lightbulbs and cars and supporting the corporations in a new profit front, is more a crisis than killing children and innoncent citizens.

Actually Pepik's folks are getting richer, they are promoting wars and selling arms, while controling the little man. They develop new departments and companies just to do that.

I question the high school system, because I see children falling for marketting. High School should teach our children to think and ask....but all I see is them falling for spin.

What ever you are just bitter. It is hard to think that the world can change when you are so negative. It is people like you that bitch about everything but at the same time aren't willing to get off their asses to make change. It doesn't matter that people are making money in the even everyone makes money on charity events. The point is they speaking out for a good cause. If the Earth dies we all die. To me that is very important.

My ass has been off the couch and making a change for quite a while. I've worked outside for years, I know about mother earth and climate, what do you know of her? A cause is only as good as the spin. And you've chosen to buy into it. You wish to advance capital punishment. That shows how much thought you've ever put into life.

The area in which I live goes through three months a year over 100 degrees F, it's been that way since I was little. Now I think Gore and his folks would like you to believe it's part of global warming....guess what it isn't, in fact, we had a longer milder spring than usual. None of us that have lived here for a while think it's unusual, but this concert and the media would like you to think it is.

And I've worked outside for years, so I know firsthand about global warming. And it (global warming) is not happening here.

I never said I chose to advance capital punishement. Where did that come from. To come on here making personal attacks against everyone and get relly bitter and pissed about shit and complain instead of trying to be informative you insult people.

Thats the thing that pisses me off about people who say they are informed. All they do is complain of the people that don't know as much instead of working to make changes.

I said it didn't work and the reasons why it doesn't work.

I never said I agreed with it.

Now back on topic please. If you have anything else to say to me on the subject pm me or take it back to the original thread.

Global warming due to carbon dioxide is the biggest scam since the Iraq war.

They just want you to buy 5 dollar light bulbs.
