actually come to think of it, earlier this year I saw a British band at this venue where a friend of mine was also doing a set. and that band was really good; I don't remember what they were called, but they sounded like a more upbeat, faster Mogwai. I was pretty drunk, but I remember liking it a lot.
snow patrol are shit yeah but theyre irish. bands like kasabian etc are fucking ace. but i never said music was meant to sound like pop idol quite the opposite infact.
Lol Every band ya'll have said is in my eyes, shi11te. Except for Tool........ I mean OBVIOUSLY!!!! I've no idea what's goin on with Mainstream/Popular music here or anywhere... I just listen to what I like to listen to and go from theereeerererere.
everyone has their own tastes i suppose. different music for different people. whatever though its somthin people should have in their lives. its the one thing i couldnt live without. im getting a demo recorded proffesionally soon. ive found a scheme in the north west that gets you a 3 track demo for 50 quid. cant wait coz i really need to start doing somthing with my music. i dont wanna get to 40 or 50 and be looking back without trying my best.
thats kinda what i was tryin to say. i dont think people over the pond can relate to the songs in the same way as somone from the UK. Have you heard any of Kasabian's stuff though. completely different to the artic monkeys. its not pop at all. fucking great!
Articc Monkeys are a perfect example of the boring derivitive bullshit that is dominating the raido these days. Not to state the obvious but U.K. bands (even great ones like the Beatles) are almost always imitating some thing from the US. Not that they don't do it as well or better then the orignal, but if you want to see the new interestring stuff look in the clubs and on the streets in New York, Boston, Memphis, S.F., Seattle, Austin, or any other big city in the US. Or wait a few years for the British imitation to hit the local Civic Center
My dad is from Canterbury so I don't ever have trouble understanding british accents. And I think the world's best music comes out of the UK definitely. In fact most of the music I listen to is british except a few bands like The Dandy Warhols, Interpol, and the Strokes. But yeah I'm totally into post-punk revival and britpop/indie rock. Bands like The Libertines, Blur (fuckin love david albarn), British Sea Power, Echo & the Bunnymen, Radiohead, and Siouxsie & the Banshees just seem to top American bands like My Chemical Romance, Hawthorne Heights (which sounds like a fuckin apartment complex), and Fall Out Boy in every way imaginable. Emo music sucks. And I'm going to assume that your (the OP) username refers to Morissey, in which case Morissey rules ahaha. There is totally a difference between Morissey/The Smiths and emo music. lol. But yaaaa.
