So who likes a good stand up show? I know that I've been impressed by stand up comedians since i was a little fella, and that was what inspired me to do it.

Ok, so stand-up isn't my career, but its a great hobby and it does wonders for public speaking skills. Laughter is what keeps us all together. It puts the opinions of others out in the open even better than music does, and in some cases opens the eyes of most people to be more open minded(though that depends on the comedian).

taking all the pressure, the demands, the harshnesses of daily life and lightens it. Humor is what truly keeps us young and healthy.

If laughter IS the best medicine, then the worlds comedians are society's most prized doctors....you know, except for the ones that, like,...save lives and stuff...

Ah yes, but you are overlooking one thing, my dear Kunoichi! ^^

SNL is SKIT-comedy. It is great as well, but We speak of Standup! The ultimate in "one man-one audience" performance! Well...usually its one person on stage. Though when theres more than one person, i think it becomes partly skit-comedy XD.

Jerry Seinfeld is like my hero. And I love Nick Swardson. But there is nothing better than a Comedy Central Roast.

I'm watching comedy central and Demetri Martin's special, "Person", IS on and even though i've seen it three times before, i still love it. He's a genius.

Well, i know he's not British, but for some reason that reminded me of Jimmy Carr XD.
"My girlfriend said to me one night, "I want you to tease me." So i said, "Alright, fatty."."

"Thay say in hip-hop, "Raise your hands in the air, like you just don't care". Wouldn't a better display of apathy be not to bother?"
Ha, for a guy thats been in a lot of family movies, robin williams has a pretty filthy mouth ^^. Hes one of my favorites too.

This is just a random 5 of my favorites. Theres to many to sit down and rank or list...

    1.Demetri Martin
    2.Mitch Hedberg
    3.Jeff Dunham
    4.Gabriel Iglesias
    5.Luis Black

LMAO I love Demitri Martin. I don't usually like one-man stand up that much because most of them rely on shock, toilet humour, or sex instead of actually being funny, but some of them really are hillarious.

I'm a big fan of "silent" comedy, which IMO doesn't actually have to be without sound it just has to be more or less free of actual dialogue. I've only seen one guy do an act like this by himself and I wish I could remember his name...he took the stage, looked at his watch and hung an "out to lunch" sign on the mike before starting his act of eating lunch. It was awesome.

"Comedians do funny things. Good comedians do things funny."

George Carlin is cool :D Bill Hicks is well worth checking out, I'm surprised he hasn't been mentioned on here already...

My favourite British stand-up is probably Stewart Lee.
