I've heard news that some people have started a jedi religion that believe in the force i was woundering if people believe this or if it's a big joke made by star wars fans
A Jedi religion: http://www.jediism.org/ An article about some form of Jedi religion being officially recognized in Australia, possibly because of a mass prank: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/2218456.stm
It is, if nothing else, an apt representation of how deep spiritual concepts and ideals are vulgarized into organized dogma. And, indeed, what are Lucas' Jedi Knights but a conglomeration of archetypical concepts of chivalry and mysticism dating back through antiquity? Much Love
From what I can gather, it was a joke. Rumor went round that if enough* people claimed to be a Jedi knight (on their census form) it would have to be classified as an actually religion. Of course everyone saw through it. *Not sure of the figure, afew thousand probably.
"History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis...But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it." - L. Long One good science fiction based take on spirituality deserves another.
Jedi-ism is a religion, ive seen star wars, my mind has created thoughts that create the desire that one day i want to be a jedi. One day i want go to heaven. One day i want to be ultimately liberated. They are all religions, they are all interpretations, they all have their desires. None can be right, none can be wrong, because none are of the essence of the true world without preconception. Christianity is no more true than Jedi-ism, or Buddhism, Judaism. They are all interpretations created and distorted in a mind. The mind is not omniscient, it cannot know everything, so how can it say that something is true when it very well may not be true. All is true, all is not true, all simply is.
this is great just read it feel it dont be lead by the letters used to represent the ultimate this jedi religion could have positive values to teach some of us
I like the whole idea from the movie; "Use the force" instead of "Pay some guy in a robe to talk about the force for you and then just show up once or twice a week so he can tell you how it's going". The idea of getting in touch personally with the creative power of the cosmos; feeling it, letting it flow through you, letting it guide your actions, becoming (or realising you already are) a part of it--so much more powerful than listening to some guy behind a pulpit read a book about it and tell you what he thinks it means. I always thought the Jedi way was alot like Taosim; The Force = The way Reaching out with your feelings instead of thinking= Wu wei (no mind)
Oh geez, I better not let my husband know about this. I have to suffer through enough stinking Star Wars as it is, especially with the Episode III movie coming out on May 19th. Ugghh. I HATE Star Wars.
Theres a religon.........must be a LOT of fan-boys in Austraila....wow...a religon....and I thought I WAS a geek...
