With the whole GodHatesFags thing;

I disagree with them. I dislike them too. But I don't "hate" them.

It's their belief that gays are disgusting and deserve hated. Just like it's my belief that a gay person is no different than a heterosexual person. Maybe the members of the church will grow out of their cycle of hate, but until then, we have to be accepting of their hating ways.

As for the anti-hippie site:
It really doesn't insult me, for I am not a hippie. However, the people who wrote that would go crazy if someone insulted Jesus or some other element of the Christian faith.
In my opinion that is.

 

At the risk of beating a dead horse, does it matter that the Westboro Baptists are misrepresenting Leviticus? No translation of the Bible I've ever seen says "God hates fags". The closest that it comes is to say that God hates the practice of men sleeping with each other, but even the late homophobic Rev. Fallwell said that God "hates the sin, but loves the sinner." Which is how he got on the Wetboro list for picketed funerals. And where in the Bible would anybody get the idea that it's o.k. to picket the funerals of dead military people just because their country isn't tough enough on gays?

 

lol i sent that guy an e-mail telling him to stop hating and all he said back was. "Why don't you go find a barber shop and take a bath and get a job hippie!" funny thing is I'm not a hippie, but i do prefer the hippie views over most other religions.

 

Someone should send him alink to this page!! Most of us just stand for peace and love, we dont care for drugs.

You realize shit like that fuels them? right?
We cant stop their free speech, they cant stop ours. Just let them hide from the world and preach their hate, cause they all know jesus used to play "through the stick at the gay kid"(sarcasm), they have proof! Its written in a book! As for their interpretations of the bible, its just that, THEIRS. Same way people find porn to be demeaning, while others enjoy it (long jump i know)

Somewhat unserious, yes. But there's a core of truth in it just like in anything, because these people, or merely the existence of minds THAT closed to all but their own values, do fill me with the purest of loathing. And when I've had too much cheap beer, guestbook entries like that are what said loathing culminates in.

I wouldn't hurt a fly, really. (I usually try to chase them back outside through the window)
