2 years ago several friends began talking about starting an egalitarian, income sharing community. We wanted to create a cooperative, sustainable way of life. After much planning and looking at property we have finally found what we were looking for. Echowood is located one hour southeast of Austin, Texas, on twenty-three acres. The land has forested areas, large trees, pastures and a pond for swimming. There are currently two houses, as well as an office/computer lab with satellite connection, a small workshop, a poultry yard (for eggs), and an organic garden that is bursting with veggies. There are also several other various structures. The plan is to construct a large wood shop, a music studio, a mechanic's shop, art and craft studios, a large domed lodge as the center of community activities, small bungalows to house each member, a goat barn, an outdoor music venue, and a sandy beach area at the pond. Im heading out to echowood. Im coming from Roswell NM. Im still planning how to get myself, and my familure (cat) Out there.
