ok two things really... One of my feet hurt in a particular place and I'm not sure I've stood on glass.. how do I know? would I be able to see it? it does hurt very much but there is something nagging there. there's no cut or anything on my toe.. do you think it could just be something pricked me or that i've got glass in my foot.. waah! and the second thing. My mum keeps saying about corns??? or something sounding like that??? what are they and am I likely to get them from being barefoot? I have no idea what she's talking about them but she said it in.. an almost threatening way thanks anyway xx
corns are hardened bits of dead skin on the feet that would arise from irritating the same bit of skin repeatedly. You're probably more likely to get them from uncomfortable shoes where the shoes rub the same bit of the foot all the time, rather than from going barefoot which is healthy and gives your feet room to live breathe and be flexible. So I wouldn't worry about it.
woo! cheers, and also, anyone got any ideas apart from wearing long trousers all the time at school because I dont know how they're going to react to my feet. The feeling is badly because my head of year is a bit... crazy.. one minute she's nice but the next minute she snaps and shouts for no reason! haha. waah.. any suggestions?
You should be able to see the glass. Try taking a pin, sterilize it, and open the skin where it hurts (Do not cut yourself, just separate the skin), if you do not feel comfortable doing this, then go to a doctor. A serious blood clot/ infection may result from glass being in your skin.
I do that long/baggy trousers trick all the time myself... it helps hide your feet from the world, while still being barefooted... works a treat (and I happen to think also looks very cool - just your toes sticking out at the end... very sexy). As for the school thing? Do you activly barefoot at school? Or is it something you want to do. I see that you're 16. While I'm not one to try and put you off going barefooted, I might suggest that you don't do it at school... you will have the piss taken out of you all the time, they'll make up bullshit about how you can't afford shoes and shit, and you'll be the laughing stock of the whole school.... it totally sucks, but hey, kids can be assholes. My advice there is that you skip the school thing, but do it everywhere else....
hahah dude the guys are all my friends. I had one comment today but it makes me laugh tookids can be cruel but I can be crueler! They wouldnt do anything! I went to school barefoot today but wore sandals in the lessons. I'm sixteen but in sixth form, we had a big lecture about how we're going to be treated like adults and stuff now *shyeah right* but hey... until someone says something I'm happy doing that. and no one cares. They see that you do things different and get over it... as people should (unless they're head of years) people get used to things... cheers for the advice anyway
That's great peace_sells, if you are able to do it, and be respect enough to have have the chronic piss taken out of you, then that's great. If I had gone to school bare foot, I would have had the chronic piss taken out of me forever... (but then the kids at my school were assholes). So you're in the sixth form then? You get to wear your own clothing, etc? I guess that you could get away with the barefoot look, if you wore the correct outfit... kinda hippy style LOL... Anyway, that's cool....

I will.. everyone calls me a hippy anyway... until I get on my drums which is another thing, if I can strengthen and harden my feet then I will hopefully be better at that double pedal magic we'll see what happens anyway! Oh and my foot doesnt hurt anymore.... if it doesnt hurt anymore there can't be glass in it .. right? because it'd still be hurting...? hmm?
i like to go barefoot in class, or just socks. i wear shoes in school halls cuz i've seen kids spit on the floors and spill natsy stuff etc.... but when i'm sitting at my desk or sewing machine etc... i take them off cuz it's more comfortable. it could also be a plantars wort, that's when something like a little stone gets in and then makes a hard lump. you have to get a special medication to put on it, i say go to the doctor.
Hi Peace, I'm in the UK too In college I used to kick my shoes off in lessons/the libary. Never got any stick about it. Guess the teachers were too distracted by teaching Even did most of my exams barefoot (not sure it helped my performance, but I was chilled and comfy)
when i was in school i never wore shoes and ya some kids thought i was gross but who cares what they think.
I got bullied a hell of a lot at school.... so to avoid it, I would do as much as I could to try and fit in. I hated school... but now I'm free!!!!
Sorry to hear that. Did the kids steal your glasses to make fire, and call you "Piggy"? I was occasionally bullied, but I also was occasionally in the bully position. By the time I was in high school, I was no small fry (though not huge either) but I asserted myself here and there enough that I mostly didn't get fucked with. In fact, I stood up to a guy who was wayyy bigger than I was to protect a friend, and spooked him bad enough that for the rest of our senior year, the most he ever did to me was sneer at me in the hallway. i moved from bc to ontario when i was 9. the town i moved to was small and so were the minds of most of the people, it was the whole "outsider' thing. so they were mostly nasty too me, then an older boy started a physical fight with me and i beat the crap out of him infront of all his buddies. hee hee (where were the teachers? lol) so i didn't get bothered untill a new guy came to school and decided that he was gonna make a name for himself, anyways, long story short, his braces had to be replaced and his pride was taken down cuz i got him in front of a bunch of parents and kids. lol i kinda feel bad now but he deserved it. when i got home my parents had friends visiting from bc. they were an older couple and both played major roles in the church, tee hee, mom asked my my fist was all bruised so i told her that i beat up this kid at the skating rink, and mom was horrified cuz her friends were there, then she asked why and i told her that he pushed me and knocked me over really hard and that he was calling me names like a whore etc.... man was she horrified untill the man said "right on!!! thats my girl!!!!!!" and applauded me!!! his reaction was awsome!!! lol
