I'm conducting a study with the Texas Observer magazine that is being done to correlate the connections between marijuana use and "laziness". Believe it or not, I am working on debunking the commonly accepted theory that marijuana leads to lack of motivation and poverty. So, what is your occupation? How often do you smoke marijuana and how long have you smoked marijuana? What is your current education level? What do you see in your future? What is your age? Think of it like this: if you want marijuana to be, at the least, decriminalized, than answer this. Try to be sophisticated in your response, so as to not give marijuana a bad name, since I am directly forwarding the responses to the magazine sometime at the end of the month.
i smoke daily....but im also a full time student....but im also exotic dancer .....so not sure if that helped at all
I think you should also include age in you study, as many of the pople on these forums are teenagers or young adults and therefore havnt the time or the experience to develop their careers. I am in my last yeah or high school, planning to do a design course at uni. Have smoked cannabis on average once a week since I was 16. Occupation: lol I still do a paper run. I am not lazy
"They lie about marijuana. Tell you pot-smoking makes you unmotivated. Lie! When you're high, you can do everything you normally do, just as well. You just realize that it's not worth the fucking effort. There is a difference." Bill Hicks
By laziness, I mean not working, having no goals, no motivation to success, etc.. If you support that claim, than you are supporting marijuana prohibition and simply feeding the government their bias towards marijuana smokers.
absolutly not true. Lazyness has nothing to do with not having goals. Not having a traget or a goal is called lack of motivation. Supporting the claim that marijuana makes somewhat lazy is nothing but supporting the truth. Wether a person gives in to this lazyness or not determines his motivation.
I re-worded it for you, Mr. Technical. But, yeah, maybe laziness does. Complaining, bickering about the injustice of marijuana ban, yet doing nothing about it is laziness.
It doesnt cause laziness. I have been smoking regularly on and off since I was 15, so nearly 3 years now. I have still done everything I wanted to do before I started smoking. I go to college and I am studying computing and hope to go to University. Work wise I do not have a 'proper' job but I do repair computers and tutor people on how to use them. I smoke nearly everyday as well. Hope that helped. Tom
face it MJ causes lazyiness and lack of motivation. some ppl give in to these and spend all day smoking and doing nothing others fight it and lead perfectly productive lives.
lets see. its 9am, ive worked out, had breakfast, began a few projects around the house i hope to finish today, and smoked up earlier.
im a college student, planning on earning a degree in psychology, ive been smoking for 6 years. i'm 19. and im lazy as hell. but it hasn't affected my long term goals at all. and i'm a daily smoker, 2-4x a day on average, maybe once a day if i don't have much money. and guess what, i vote.
i'm pretty unmotivated, but i don't blame the pot. for me weed is something to do and it makes me feel good, helps me reflect. but even if i wasn't smoking i'd be sitting around doing the same shit i do when i smoke most likely.. my smoking schedule varies, if i'm hanging out with a lot of friends i could smoke many times throughout the whole day.. if i spend the day alone i may end up smoking once or twice, or not at all.. i love pot, but it's like give or take for me. it'll always be there, but i can live without it, ya know what i mean?. i'm just an unmotivated to begin with.. i think it's almost unhealthy how indifferent i am about many things. i have no clue where i might even end up in a year.. but i don't mind, there's nowhere i really want to be either. just somewhere, with a smile on my face... and maybe a big fat joint in my hand haha.. just livin life
i can still do everything i've wanted to do. in fact, i think i've accomplished more since i started smoking.
Does weed make you lazy? ABSOLUTELY. However, being lazy and being unmotivated, or having no goals are two completely different things. Most people think of being lazy as sitting around, doing nothing when they are stoned/burned out. But, keep in mind, people do that in their OFF TIME, so its not like they would be accomplishing some great feats had they not toked up. I don't know of a single person who has ever given up their shot at a succesful life by smoking pot. If you put a college degree and a pipe in front of someone and tell them to choose, they are gonna pick the college degree. And for some its not even a choice, tons of people I know are doing great in college and are everyday smokers. Anyways, I deliver/cook for a pizzeria, and in summers I work roofing a couple days a week. In winters, I plow snow for the same company. Im 23, and yeah, I never went to college, but I'm making great money now, I'm living a comfortable and happy life in a nice apartment.... so I don't really need college. And you can blame the weed if you so choose (I've been smoking for almost 10 years), but face it, some people dont need college, I can be perfectly happy and sucessful without wasting 4 more years of my life in school and getting thousands of dollars in debt However, I think the results of this little survey are going to be DRASTICALLY swayed by all the 15 year old pot smokers who couldn't put down the pipe to save their life. If THIS, of all places, is where you come to try and formulate and ACCURATE survey on marijuana... you're a fucking idiot. I mean, hell, theres not even an age requirement on this website! Now, an assload of Texans are gonna end up reading about the "devils weed" all over again, because you're too lazy to construct an accurate survey.
I'm currently a highschool graduate, and am planning on attending college next year. In highschool i maintained a 4.0 GPA at a private school. Over the course of my highschool career i took 5 AP classes, and I recieved a 4 on the History AP exam, which allows me to gain college credits. I plan to graduate collgege and after that follow up with graduate school, with the intention of possibly becomming a teacher or a college professor. I smoke marijuana around 4-5 times a week mainly to relax and center myself. Marijuana does not make me lazy at all. I find that it allows me to find an equilibrium in body and mind. Then again, it really depends on how you are using it. If you're looking to get completely stoned, and you do so every day, you're obviously going to have a hard time doing work and other activities. But if you just take a few puffs, you'll be fine the next day. Think about it- if one were to drink 2-3 beers everyday, his/her health/focus would not suffer very much. However, if that same person were to drink a handle of vodka everyday, he would not be able to function on a normal level. Marijuana is the same way- if you're getting completely stoned every day, you're certainly going to be unable to function on a normal level. However, if you take a more moderate approach you'll be fine. Hope that helps, good luck ta yaz. P.S. - I think the problem we have here is that most of these posters are getting straight up stoned on a regular basis. So they probably are seeing negative side-effects.
You're acting as if the Hip Forums is my only source. Please, I'm interviewing more marijuana smokers than you could imagine, and using past information as well. It's not an assload of Texans that will be reading it, it is AMERICA. You know, the New York Times, 20/20, 60 minutes, among many others have used this magazine as an informational source. Frankly, it is YOU guys who make it the so-called "devil weed", not the media. The media only links marijuana smokers with lack of motivation, using those who are down and out with the fact they smoke. And explain how I was 'altering the outcome'? I was clarifying to Kar33m what I meant by laziness, because I know what he was saying was contradictory to what he supports.
