Okay, take whatever scenario you may have in your head. where do you run to?

I have done my research and have included some possible locations. look into ones you may not know about before choosing, as I have and you may be suprised!!

Why go somewhere isolated? If the whole world was doomed I'd rather take it on with my brothers and sisters than hide away where no one can find me.

If there’s a large asteroid or the nucleus of a comet plummeting towards earth, I’ll just hunker down right where I am with my family and try to ride out the impact.

I’ll take whatever precautions necessary and stock up on food and survival gear but otherwise, I’m not going to flee to some small isolated spot on earth in the hope of survival

    Like the lyrics go:

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door [IMG]

I'd go where I'm already going in the Spring: The valleys between the Appalachian and Alleghany ranges of WV. No Tsunamis from the east and no fallout from the west. Pretty safe.

my father is a paranoid burn out stoner hippie that spends his time on the net listening to old radio plays and reading science fiction, my basement has a million rubber maid bins full of supplies...and by a million i just mean to exaggerate to prove my point, theres prolly like 50-100 which is still a shit load

i'd stay right here and crack open a beer, well actually more like the rum cause no one likes warm beer

I probably wouldn't know that the world was ending.

I don't watch the news, and my internet will probably be down...

So I'll just sit around, play some guitar, read a book, and slowly drift to sleep.

I'd run away to a country that most people never ever think about. It's existence is barely even noticed in this world.

    I'd go to Canada.

what do you mean by doomed? and why waste energy running off to anywhere if that isn't going to do any good.

when i was in the air force i saw some maps of where fallout would drift to at different seasons and under different weather conditions depending on where, what the military considered to be probable targets for someone else to attack at that time.

when i got out i made a series of overlays looking for spots not too many hundreds of miles away that remained clear in all of them. one such location was denio nevada, north end of the black rock desert. not too far north of where burning man is held these days.

of course nuclear war is long since no longer the most likely scenario. what we are and have done to the environment is far more real and immediate, and i think if anything is going to end, it will likely be little more or else then ourselves, which is to say the human species on this planet.

and since the direction we've pushed in it is something like thermal run away, i would think places that have climates that are difficult now because of their coolness, might become quite comfortable, if a bit muddy from all the melting tundra.

but as for "running" in anthing resembling a litteral sense, that is almost invariably a complete waiste of energy. i'd just be mosying allong further back up north as it went if i could or needed to.

shucksie darn. i don't need any of that kind of excuse for wanting to anyway.
there's a lot that remains to be seen though, and i'm not betting on those who adamantly insist on humanity not smartining up either.

people might not replace the dumb things the're doing now with what i see as good or best alternatives, but they might just stop doing some of them some other way too.

there ARE plenty of nice places that are more or less isolated, but i don't see how they could be expected to stay either way if everyone went there.

i mean i wouldn't mind maybe going and staying one of them just on general pricipals, without all this doom bussiness having anything to do with it, because that's the kind of places i like anyway.

but i don't think in todays world, geographic isolation is any protection from madmen controlling super powerful spheres of influence, unless on a roll of the dice, it's one they manage to somehow overlook and ignore.

then again, the whole world ISN'T as insane as the u.s. seems to have become.

    =^^=

I'd either be like, kicking back at home with my mum, dad, bro and sis or if I couldn't get an air flight over to family over seas....I'd so be hiring a row boat to try and get to them if I had to.

If the world is ending that would likely include every possible sanctuary I'd be tempted to run to so why spend my last days and hours running? I'd probably find someone enjoying the scenery while getting stoned on their roof and I'd join them.
