It's funny because those are things that tend to strike a nerve with a lot of Americans so when they do it back Brits usually just laugh. No-one apart from weirdo nationalists and racists are patriotic here, anyone who's into waving the Union Flag is a little retarded. The public didn't support the war, don't support the troops, don't support the government (whichever party's in power) and couldn't care less if someone insulted our country. The only problem we have with it is they can't do it as eloquently or as with as much humour as we do. You're not British if you don't constantly complain about how shit your country is. As we become more like the states with dumb laws and a sick privately funded government etc this rings true even more...

On topic though: This 'terrorism' is a load of shit. If that's what the 'radical muslim extremists' in this country are capable of then I don't think we've got much to be scared about.. Just don't read tabloids or watch privately owned channels and you won't feel scared any more. I won't go into my feelings on the subject of the tube bombings two years ago etc as people may get the wrong end of the stick but anyone who believes that this country is any more at risk from terrorists than it has been for the last 30 years is very wrong.

Well that's an individual thing, good for you if you take pride in your country, it's no skin off my back if you're not hurting anyone else. Personally I can't help where my parents fucked so I am what I am, what it says on my passport isn't me.

The point I was making is that when people try and insult the British by criticising our flag or country it's funny because it's shit that no-one here is bothered by. There's many things you could say to piss a brit off but talking about the flag or country won't cut it. As I said, we know we're shit more than anyone else so someone coming up saying "I'm going to wipe my ass on your flag" isn't an insult it's just dumb.

I don't mind being English, it's quite funny because we're fairly ridiculous as a nation (though aren't most?) and I think the British way of life is hilarious. But to me and most of the population flags is not our country. I don't like being English, I don't dislike it, it's what I am. I'm sure I'd feel the same if I were Spanish, South African, Japanese or indeed Canadian. Half my friends are foreigners and it's fun to laugh at the little cultural differences but essentially nationality does not define you. Maybe because we have open borders with europe it's more relaxed as there's free movement of many cultures, languages, experiences etc that makes up this melting pot. I usually call myself european over english anyhow.

And with regards to people living in Israel, well of course they're patriotic but that's because of a fucked up culture of theft and zionism and other twisted viewpoints that I won't go into here.
