Oh be quiet child. Teeth down my throat, my arse.
In case you hadn't noticed, you call yourself child - I just missed off the god dam 'Woodstock'.
Metal has come a long way since the years when the bands you listed were shit hot and new. It seems you're living in the past. It's a different decade now, where Metal has reached a whole new level and given birth to multiple sub genres.
In THIS day and age, you gotta come a bit more specific in describing the words heavy metal.

    1. that's retarded. Silly boy, don't you know that Metal Will Never Die?
    2. I'm curious though. How exactly would it be killing metal if it did?
    3. you people have had years to bitch about emo. It didn't help back then and it doesn't help now. Also, it makes you look very, very childish.

I don't see why emo is pushed toward the "metal" section, it should be out on its own, and if anything, in the ROCK section.

In terms of music distribution, Emo is selling by the shit load.
Obviously Metal will never die, but this Emo toss is so over populated (both bands and fashion sense). Anyone read the Metal Hammer issue that featured BFMV on the front along with a comment which read ''We are the future of British Heavy Metal!!''?? What. Fucking. Ever.
There's nothing subliminal in the lyrics of Emo. Most of the Emo bands out there are singing the same shit!! The lyrics may have meaning, but upon hearing an Emo track I gotta ask myself 'did this subject REALLY need a song written about it?!'.
Download 2006 - good selection of Metal bands, yeah there were the riots but also a lot less in the way of cannon fodder (Emos) when it came to pitting.
Download 2007 - a shitload of Emo bands (MCR headlining, for Christ's sake) which resulted in the majority of the audience in tight denim and fucked up hairstyles/attitudes.
If having a preference in my listening taste makes me childish, then brilliant.

Spending years grabbing every chance to bitch about how much emo sucks is childish, not having a preference in music. Everything that can be said about emo has been said and honestly, why even still make the effort.
And, just like a metalhead, an emo is just somebody who likes a certain music and dresses accordingly.

Download doesn't look specifically like a metal festival. If it was, they wouldn't have contacted MCR for a place in the line-up (or Reel Big Fish for that matter).

But what I mean is, how can emo ever kill metal if we've got one huge underground here where the whole emo phenomenon so far has had ZERO influence on whatsoever. It's not like somehow emo will ever make all your favourite metal bands stop playing.

Mate - I did not mean it literally. I meant it in a sense. Of course it's not going to wipe out the Metal genre, but I was voicing an opinion in terms of distribution and festivals.
We both know Metal will be around for years yet.
Download '06 was full of Metal bands. Agreed, it is not specifically a Metal festival, but with the likes of Machine Head performing, WHY were MCR headlining?! Oh aye yeah - because the popularity factor speaks volumes!
BFMV citing themeselves as the future of British Heavy Metal is an outrage, but if people keep buying this Emo music, they may be right.
I haven't spent YEARS 'bitching' about Emo music. I've presented a few points which are more than reasonable as a Metal fan. Also, I absolutely despise rap/hip hop artists such as 50Cent and all these ego feeding shite, which I am open about. Does this make me childish too?!
Obviously, I do have preferences in music. Voicing a negative opinion on a genre doesn't change a thing or make me any more immature than yourself.
It's not like I go Emo bashing or even given them verbal abuse in the street in an attempt to make them feel like shit. In my opinion, THAT'S being childish.
But then again, I pity you if you think the Emo dress code and lyrical content is a mature approach. They all look childish as it is.
