So that I'll be able to pay for school if I have to...

So would anyone like to hear my plan? Because if not I'm going to post about it anyway

So, I'm attempting to get an ROTC scholarship, and in four years I'd be an officer in the U.S. Army. So far more has happened than I thought it would and I'm, dare I say it, optimistic.....

The only thing that's holding me up is a waiver for my chapter 11 discharge. However like I said I'm surprised I've made it this far.... I've been in talks with an ROTC recruiter for almost two months. I met the ROTC Commanding Officer at a Christmas party this past December.

I really hope I get in....

Another thing that is making the ROTC recruiter hesitant is the fact that I've been out of school for a year. So on July 10th I have an registration appointment at WTC (Western/Wisconsin Technical College). I'd like to take a semester and prove to him and the Army that I have what it takes to be an outstanding scholar.... since, well, I am. :H

BUT.... it is possible that if I do receive a waiver by early August that I may still receive a scholarship and go to Viterbo University (a private college in La Crosse) for this fall semester. Which would just be super dandy, friends...

But oh yeah, me moving back in. I'd do that so that I could save money to pay for TC, which is like $1300 a semester if you're just taking general classes (my sister is paying almost $2,000 a semester because she wants to get a degree through there).

Anyway, yeah. :D I'm bored and I jsut thought I'd post a thread about this. Hooray. :)

I'd get so bored living on my own, living with my folks is a riot, especially when if you're like me you actually don't have any friends....I mean I did....but now I don't

    I thought you'd already joined/left the Army?

I could be moving out this fall, if not, we're deciding to get rid of this house, because we're all kinda tired of dealing with it/working on it, although it's a nice house. Also, despite how much I enjoy being so close to people around main street, though it's a pain, you never get any alone/open time to yourself... I guess I'm just used to that by now.

I've been looking at Asheville, NC; NorCal/Oregon/Washington, etc.; and Vermont. Vermont is the most expensive out of the trio. I'm not even going to think about someplace like Colorado. Georgia isn't bad at all... wouldn't mind the North Georgia hills or around Tybee/Savannah, but it's getting up there. Still plenty of land in Florida, but the retirees and snowbirds are sucking the life out of it.

I'm thinking Town Mountain or Black Mountain are nice areas. I was considering Charlottesville, VA, but I don't really talk to the guy who offered me a cabin up there, anymore.

    February/June?

I find it ridiculous that no matter where I'd live, if I were in the vicinity of the Appalachians, I would still probably go to SW Virginia to drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway sometime every September-October just to take coolass pictures of leaves you'll never see outside of Jackson Ridge and Blue Ridge. Some parts of the Appalachians feel so alien to me, even though it may still be the same range. :D

I think everyone South of Philly, North of Florida, and East of the Ohio River Valley has had that hankering.

I see. :D I thought you meant Spring Break or something, at first, which is why Feb. puzzled me.

What could be more hip? Except for an actual hip, of course.

My parent's house is so much more fun than where I moved. Country living beats the city any day. And I've got my dogs back! Hooray!

Plus my brother is probably the coolest person I know. Thus, the move back is awesome. (I moved back yesterday)

One step closer to ROTC... I've got my physical to go and I believe that's all :D

Aww, man. You best be comin' to Asheville, son. Actually, I think Boone's more your type of town. Plus, Appalachian State is a very nice campus/college/everything.

Next summer, I think my graduation trip is going to be hiking the Appalachian Trail. Or biking it. With real trail mix and everythang. I'm so excited. :D

Shit. :D Something I've wanted to do for years. I wish I could have done that this year, but I'm soaking up too many concerts and festivals.

I was traveling with this guy, Black Dog. He hitchhiked all the way from Key West to Ocracoke Island. He's an artisan who makes jewlery. He just hitchhikes and travels three months out of the year, selling jewelry and vending at festivals, once tourist season is over, there. Anyway, he's been walking around and hitchhiking for 21 days and I took him to this Greyhound station so he could catch a ride to this state park/quarry/lake deal in Ohio or somesuch... aha, we smoked with him and shared Bonnaroo stories (he's a vendor there). He was still wearing his bracelet from Roo, as I was... and he gave me his hitchhiking sign as a momento :D. He had one of those big AT packs.

Well shit, I'm at the McDonalds in Kill Devil Hills, right now. Free wi-fi at McDonald's... whoda thunk. I'm staying at a friend's aunt's house. He was already down here for the fourth of July and had extra room in an RV. :D Decided to come down here before I started following Yonder Mountain String Band.
