Any Racer X fans out there? They came back together in late 90's and have released 3 albums since then - all with great material, I think some of which was old stuff that was shelved.

IMO - they are one of the greatest un-sung commercial metal bands of the 80's or now. I did not care for Paul Gilberts "Mr. Big" at all - no ofense to the guy. Would have been better if he had not retired Racer X for so many years, but at least they are back.

    cheers,

I like Paul's work, I definitely agree that Racer X is/was greater than Mr. Big.

Paul Gilbert's obviously an amazing guitarist who has mastered many difficult techniques, but his music always seems like warm-up excercises to me. I've listened to the likes of 'Scarified' and 'Technical Difficulties', plus his live solo with Racer X and some of his stuff with G3. Plus a lot of lessons/demonstrations. Very technical and fast, but also very boring (in my opinion.)

Gilbert is one of the only guitar virtuosos that is really worth listening to. He's so fluid and smooth, a real easy listen.
Street Lethal will always be my favorite Gilbert-involved album. Title track kicked too much ass.
