Basically, it seems to be a lie born out of greediness. Say I buy a ten strip, chances are I don’t mind sharing some with people I feel would benefit from the experience. However, when it comes to the general population, to avoid the unpleasantness of saying “no” to people and turning them away, a clever sophisty gets invented that lets me have my acid and feel like I don’t have any responsibility to the hungry masses. I simply say to them “my friend, LSD will find you when you are ready”, and in a super sweet tone that is at the same time condescending and smug. This way my conscience is quieted and I can enjoy my remaining lsd feeling like I deserve it more than the rest. And once this sort of falsehood took hold within the community, people began to accept it without questioning and new generations accepted it as the gospel. Any other theories on how this irrationality entered the psychedelic community? Please, no need to bring up the old debate (as to whether this is an irrationality or not) here, as there is already another thread devoted to that.
Chill out man.... patients is a virtue<--I know you dont want to hear that. But honestly, if you spent half the time you spend theorizing about how people are keeping acid from you, out side of a show or attending a festival....you just might have it by now.
The law clearly states that one can't obstruct a fryingsquirrel from limiting the rights of others. Tyrants will try, but their individual violations will right the limits of the liberty-minded individual just swallowing the tenstrip.
I never said I didn't have any. Does my complaining about the smug behavior of some of those who do have it, make you think I don't have it? I am always kinda looking for some however.
you have to try and understand why people say this. not try to prove why we shouldnt be saying it. i assume you have already read the other thread. if you still dont understand, it is only because you are not willing to understand or in other words you are being closed minded. or - you are an idiot! good things come to those who are patient. you get what you deserve. what goes around comes around. the teacher will present themselves when the student is ready. these are all sayings that go back long before lsd was discovered. it is not some new saying. it is an old saying that has been changed to describe psychedelics. do you understand karma? if you do then use that same understanding to understand why people say that "lsd will find you when you are ready".
I've already addressed that in the other thread...I agree with all the "everything happens for a reason", "you reap what you sow", karma, attraction principles, etc. All that is fine and dandy, it makes sense, it is true spirituality. There is a distinction between this and saying "LSD will find you" though, and this distinction is what I don't think you see, they are not the same. I believe it is covered in the other thread, but if you still don't see the difference let me know.
you understand all that and you still cant wrap your mind around 'lsd will find you'... that is strange... you are strange... think about it again. then consider that maybe your not being as open minded as you could be and think about it again. if you still dont get it - try taking some lsd and think about it when you are high. it makes total sense to me. and you would be a fool to call me an idiot so maybe you should try being one of us 'lsd will find you' folk, maybe thats just what you need to increase your chances of finding some. i have a good solid connection and i feel i deserve it.
It's like this: There are two apples, one of them is rotten, the other is perfectly fine. And you are saying to me "look they're both apples, why can't you understand this?", and I'm saying, "yes I do understand this, but notice that one of them is rotten and therefore we shouldn't eat it". You do not wish to see the rotten-ness and so you focus on the similarities, which I have always acknowledged. I will continue to point out the rotten-ness of the apple, even if you do not wish to see it, because eating a rotten apple is harmful for you as well as anyone else.
I think the bullshit about lsd will find you( it is utter bullshit imo) was started by two things. First, ppl taking lsd way too seriously. Like after experiencing deep revelations on acid they start thinking that it's some kind of magic drug reaching the point where they think of acid as some kind of entity that will be able to find you when you are finally ready for the immense revelations and mind expansion it will give you. second, It is useually what you say to someone's way too young to trip and keeps complaining about not being able to find any lsd. so you just say, chill dude lsd will find you when your ready. Hoping the kid will wait a couple more year before indulging in such a poweful psychadelic.
i think the "lsd will find you" saying exists so that we can very easily determine who the idiots are. the people who do not understand this saying are closed minded fools who most likely dont respect acid anyways. makes it easier to know who the good ones are.
thanks kar33m, I've also thought that it came out of a sort of spiritually poverty stricken landscape, where people are disillusioned by the lies of the church and organized religion in general, and so they are willing to latch onto any number of new-age, pseudo-religious absurdities without questioning them. Thinking that faith is about believing in nonsense and superstitions, just as the church preaches, with the only difference being that they have found a new external idol to worship. Basically, it fills the void where a true spirituality should belong, and its no wonder that people try so desperately to support this lie, it's all they believe they've got in terms of spirituality (plus they would like to believe it helps cause "lsd to find them" and of course we all would like to believe we deserve it), so just like the church superstions it gets loudly preached and aggressively proselytized to cover up the fact that it has no foundation. Trying to point out the irrationality is often looked upon as an act of pride, and not many people wish to open their mind to the possibility that something they claim to whole-heartedly believe in is nothing more than an irrationality and a lie. It's ironic that the same people who will question the lies spewed forth by the war on drugs, the church, etc, are so unwilling to question the rationale of their own "beliefs" and measure them in a sincere way.
This is such a silly thread. Being able to acquire something doesn't imply entitlement, and LSD isn't this mystical, sentient thing that can seek out its consumers. Unfortunately, I am probably a close minded idiot that doesn't respect magical, drug-purveying ghosts that rove the world, using their superior magic acid-ghost cognitive skills to determine who is ready for lsd.
Yes it does exist so we can easily determine who is an idiot. Idiot as in taking too much lsd and frying your brain. you for example. I dont even know you but I can tell just by how your talking that you've definitly been doing too much. I bet you are a wierd ass mofo in real life.
yeah dude it's pure bullshit... acid will find you my ass... just look at all 14-16 doing acid where there actually 21 year olds who wouldnt know where to get it.
You bring up a pretty good point that is the nexus to another: implying that acid "finds" one completely discounts all of the people who have had negative and horrifying experiences with it.
