I am an atheist, so I have no opinion on this subject other than there isn't one. I would be very interested to hear other people's opinions on the subject.
The Irresistable Force that drives the Universe from the simplicity of Nothing to the complexity of Life.
I think I have a more simple explaination: God is the unknown. As an Athiest I think god is used as an explaination for everything that we don't have answers to.
Ok im not god but im coming up with some theorys from reading the bible and the ancient scriptures from an athiest scientific point of veiw at at this point in time i think there were gods giants that came from the stars the heavens above but there all died out and extinct now mainly because our god bread up aN ARMY OF PEOPLE TO KILL them off Kind of like the lord of the rings or thats how the story reads to me
(laughs @ Avocado salesman) What is God? God is the presence of belief. There are so many different versions and interpretations of God that you cannot even create one thought that describes every such version/interp. of God. You could say "all-powerful," but then some people would disagree with you. You could say "omnipotent," but even then, some people would still disagree with you. It just doesn't work that way; God can't be classified or defined in the question "What is God?" =P ----- In my interpretation, God is a higher power that created this universe and may very well exist outside of all logic. In the interpretation where my thoughts are starting lead (pantheism), God is everywhere in the universe; the manifestation of God, quite literally, *IS* this universe, including every person, animal, plant, and particle. This gives everything sentience and adds meaning to the "one with Mother Earth" phrase. It also accounts for karma, and perhaps even salvia divinorum. =)
Ever hear of a book called "Chariots of the God's"- it's where your "theory" comes from. In any case, your begging the question- How'd your gisants come to be? You may have an atheist point of view, but it's certainly not scientific.
I never read chariots, but I did read crash go the chariots which was a page for page rebuttal to everypoint that chariots tried to make. basically I have nothing to add to this discussion, which is why I stay away from the heavy threads to begin with.My bad.
I like Buddha's answer when asked to describe God. this is not verbatim, I was not present when he said it....but it was something like, "god is unknowable, undefinable, incomprehensible to our limited minds, so don't waste your time on it. Just be a good person and help others."
as a person of science, i have to say that there is a possibility that there are beings on a higher plain of exestance than ours. mabey this is god, mabey not.
