Dragonforce is hilarious, I went to their concert in Toronto last september and it was SO cheesy, me and some friends ended up just running through the audience destroying all in our way, because they were all little 14 year old kids.
Also Herman didn't do any of his OWN fucking solos.

And if you want some REAL guitar, check this out.

Alexi Laiho and Roope Latvala play 4 seasons by vivaldi

Children of Bodom, self titled song, live at tuska.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxJoq50Jns4

Alexi Laiho is a fucking fanatic guitar playing maniac machine.
    Also look up Yngwie Malmsteen.
And if you are into heavier stuff, go for the norwegian black metal scene, its dark man.
    Immortal

    Dimmu Borgir
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C7tdoNVB7M
Burzum (not too complicated, but one guy is doing it all from jail)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luFCBdS5PAs
Dragonforce doesn't even begin to scratch into metals awesomeness.

Childer of Bodom... One of my favorite bands. Got all of their albums and live albums, and never released songs. Gotta love childern of Bodom. I've seen them live 2 times. They fucking kick ass.

I'm with you man, Children Of Bodom are by far my favorite band. Follow The Reaper is my favorite metal album. I'm all about metal, Dragonforce is great, but if you really wanna here some kick ass guitar check out Tim Roth from Into Eternity. Check this video out it's a guitar lesson for one of their songs called Timeless Winter.

Melodic Death is my favorite genre of music in general. And my top favorite bands go like this.

    1. Children Of Bodom
    2. Skyfire
    3. The Absence
    4. Kalmah
    5. Norther

Gotta love metal, i just couldn't live without it. By the way Bodom does play an amazing live show, i've been to way too many concerts and the concert with Children Of Bodom, Amon Amarth, and Trivium was still my best concert to date. Definately one of those bands you have to see live to fully respect them. Alexi Laiho is a god among men.

The best Dragonforce song is Valley Of The Damned, the only one worth listening to. If you want good riffs, guitar solos, wicked drums and sweet vocals and song structure, check out Death.

Ahh. I love melodic death metal a lot as well. My genre is still Death Metal. But Melodic Death comes right up next to it. :)
Children of Bodom kicks ass. Kalmah and Norther are awsome too. Never heard of Skyfire, or The Absence, and Into Eternity is good aswell. I'm gonna look into thoughs right now. In Flames is my second favorite Melodic death band. They kick ass. again, I have all their ablums, live, and studio, and all their unreleased songs. ah hah.

I've heard some Kalmah it kicks ass, I just deleted all my Norther songs, they sound like Bodom, but not as good, none of their songs stuck out with me.

I can't believe no one has commented on Burzum yet, come on its the infamous Varg Vikernes, hes doing the band by himself from jail, it sounds pretty cheesy and bad at times, but some of his songs rule.

^Yeah I like burzums music and lots of the other early black metal.
Dimmu borgir is probably my favourite metal band.
The thing is black metal has nothing in common with Dragonforce.

Skyfire is probably the best melodic death band of all time. (In my opinion that is.) And The Absence is in my top ten favorites. They are absolutely amazing. I've seen In Flames live twice and they put on a great show. Well i've gotta say that about all melodic death metal bands, i've seen alot and all where amazing.

And for the guy under your post. Your crazy, Norther is amazing, the guitar work, and keyboards flow so well. (And in my opinion much different than Bodom.)

excuse me while i vomit in my mouth

yep it spewed, dragonforce has got to be THE worst band i have ever seen, worse than snow patrol or even the backstreet boys

if it wasnt for them my ozzfest last year would have been awsome, but they were there and i heard them and my ears bled (but not in a good way) hey good for them that ppl like them, but i know the truth that they suck the BBJC (big black jungle cock).

blech i feel dirty after mentioning that band

I stand by my guns, Norther is a cheap Bodom, nothing in it flows, and most of the songs sound the same.
And they try to sound exactly like Bodom, because its their main inspiration.

And what ties blackmetal into this dragonforce thread is the fact that dragonforce tries to be really really good, and blackmetal IS really really good, and so is melodic death.

I only like Storming the Burning Fields because of the fast guitar. I think Zack Wylde from Black Label Society could outsolo him any day. Other than the guitar they suck. Vocals are horrible.

I agree with you on the vocals part, i can only listen for so long until their vocals start to hurt my ears.

Sorry, but I wasn't impressed by any of those guitar videos really. The JamBand scene has better musicians imho. Nothing beats improvisation at live shows, my friend :)

I love Dragonforce, but you can't take them seriously and I doubt they want you to. In fact theres only one band more cheesy than Dragonforce, the Kings of Cheese metal: Manowar.

And so what if they do sound like crap live, I can't help but head bang and play airguitar when I listen to 'em and thats what really matters.

Those Bodom videos are pretty sweet, I saw 'em live once totally badass. but has anyone seen Ravi Shankar play the sitar? That man is a god.
