ive hsd absinthe twice in my trip to amsterdam, drank a lot, but did not hallucinate, as many people say... does that really happen??
I don't think any absinthe available would make you trip. Maybe if you made your own. All I get with absinthe is a clear head and cloudy eyes.
No, it doesn't make you trip or hallucinate. The wormwood, which contains thujone, can produce a slightly heady effect but in a very minor way. Absinthe produces a very clear-headed alcohol buzz that makes one nicely mellow at the same time. It's hard to describe, but whatever effects come from the thujone (if any) are secondary to the alcohol. I have had numerous varieties that people have brought back from the Netherlands, but as far as the effect is concerned, I didn't notice that much of an effect aside from the alcohol. A lot of what is said about Absinthe is based around myth. Anytime something is made illegal in a certain country, it becomes more appealing and all sorts of fantastic stories are spun about it.
i heard you have to drink a bottle that was produced before 1933, something about the ingredients that they used back to make it.
The absinthe fountain is fast making a place again in the grand and much happening parties.....arty: Kally :bigear: http://allendonald.wordpress.com/2007/05/05/hello-world/
As I've heard, absinthe was once used by artists and other upper class individuals in the early 20th century, and at that time it was hallucinogenic. However, things are way different now. I just got back from Cancun where I acquired a couple of bottles. I didnt try to bring them back through customs, but I drank a fifth during one of the days and was pretty fucking drunk, but experienced no hallucinations or anything of that nature. The absinthe that is still in production today is sold pretty much for the unique wormwood taste and the high alcohol percentage (55%) It's pretty expensive, so if you have the money or can steal it, its definitely a good drink to make a day out of.
Yeah it won't make you trip like mushrooms trip but you can get a pretty good heady feeling if you know which one to buy and drink enough. I notice a real enhancement of senses. There will be conversations happening down the hall that I'll listen to intently, music becomes really interesting. Colors get vibrant. Then I've had other kinds where it's just getting DRUNK. If you want to get it here I would order from: www.alandia.de I've ordered three bottles from there in the past and they've been GREAT. Ships fast, always toss in free stuff. It's a good deal. If you want some good effects try the "vision" absinthe, though it looks like they've changed the formula slightly... They now have 3 different kinds. When I bought it there was only one, the green so that's all I can endorse, though I can't image the other kinds are MUCH different. It's REALLY strong, probably not the best for a first time... but it will give you the effects you desire... well at least as close as you're going to get. 4-5 shots will get you where you wana be. just read the reviews, HA! Have fun with the fairy, and don't say I didn't warn you. And yes it's WELL worth the price.
I've had some before where I don't remember what happened and I woke up on a sidewalk in downtown Miami drawing on it with chalk. Absinthe is no mean feat.
I make my own, hallucination storys are exagerated, the most noticable effects ive had were lights seeming brighter/warmer/more significant. And thats after 3 shots of 85% that have had several ounces of wormwood soaked in them for weeks before redistillation. I have always compared it to the best of being drunk and stoned, you have the alcohol buzz but you have a creative mindset.
Absinthe is not hallucinogenic. There is no information to suggest it has ever been hallucinogenic, aside from rumor. There was a poem by a French artist / poet (I forget his name) from that time period thatwrote a poem about drinking absinthe and hallucinating, but he later said that it was metaphoric, not literal.
Ever drank it? Not to be combatative, but there are plenty of people, including myself that have had experiences on it. That carrys more weight than published information. Granted I wasn't tripping sack or anything, far from it. But there are definite effects that I can't really compare to much else.
No, I've not, because I don't drink alcohol. But, I know several who have and have told me it isn't hallucinogenic. But I have another friend who smokes salvia and told me salvia isn't hallucinogenic, so who knows. But, maybe, what someone considers hallucinogenic may not be to another person. Either way I don't doubt alcohol or maybe the wormwood could have some interesting experiences, when you get past the recreational part.
I have drunk absinthe in the past but have never actually hallucinated off it. But people have, hence its sometimes called 'the little green fairy' because people have seen green fairys. Its just a very strong drink.
There are different grades of absinthe. If you get into the right shit the potential is definitely there (although I can't guarantee it'll be legal where you live). As for me personally no I've never been much more than spastic-drunk off the stuff but close friends of mine have had a little bit more for sure. I guess it depends a lot on the individual though.
That is untrue, show me one person who has seen a little green fairly (who is not on lsd or shrooms at the same time) and I will show you a liar. http://www.wormwoodsociety.org/ABSfaq.html
yea, I dig absinthe and you definitely get some effects that are different from just alcohol. But DEFINITELY NOT OPEN EYE VISUALS. Color brightness and trailing is about it. The experience is really more mental. However, that site is incorrect in the legal status of absinthe. Strong absinthe is illegal in a lot of states (not sure about overseas) but not because it's absinthe, because of the alcohol content. It falls into the same class as grain alcohol. But honestly, we can probably close the debate. I gave you a place to safely purchase it and ship it over here. Find out for yourself.
Actually, Wormwood Society is one of the few accurate sites out there. Absinthe, as Absinthe, not strong alcohol, is restricted bythe US Federal government. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/prohibited_restricted.xml If it were only the abv, we wouldn't be able to purchase 151, or Everclear. Please get your facts straight before you start posting junk.
^ it's a state law thing. I CAN'T buy 151 or everclear in my state. That's why I said most STATES because I was talking about STATE law. My facts are straight, how's your reading comprehension? (sorry, that was kind of unnecessary)
It's illegal to sell, not posess, you can have it shipped from overseas. As for the original question, no. Alcohal is the primary intoxicant, you feel more than just the booze, but the extra effects mainly serve to enhance the alcohal.
