Just head on over to the Poetry Forums and take a looksie. The presence of a cult is quite obvious.

It's a cult? I thought that it was just a bunch of illiterate idiots telling each other than their SHITY poems are like "great man".

It seems that the cult gives (meaningless) compliments to those they wish to recruit. See, doing so gives these unsuspecting poets a false sense of accomplishment (or talent).

    Poor, poor souls :(

I have read a lot of posts of this sort, some of them here, and I know exactly what you mean. I hate them with a passion. Mostly because people doing good work get no recognition, other than "wow that's awesome", which is what the shittiest ones get too.

Breaking away from my horribly worded satire for a moment (o_O):

I was actually referring to all the depressed people that popped up in the poetry section out of nowhere xD The ones that write about loneliness and all that.

Cult? I thought you meant funky stuff like:

Beautiful that the hands of the sisters death and night
Incessantly softy remold again and ever again
The face of this soiled world

I'm still waiting for 'Poets for 9/11 Truth'. I know it's coming eventually. Just about every other group has gotten in on the game.

You post one poem in there 3 years ago and didn't hear what you wanted so now it's a cult that you visit to shit on other people's work? I'm really suprised by this attitude that so many people have.

It's a fucking poetry forum on a hippy website, of course some of the stuff is going to suck, there's some poetry that's published that sucks, why would stuff that isn't published be any different?

Besides, people patronize others all the time, why would you all expect different here?

The least you could do is give people a chance to express themselves and be constructive, tearing shit down takes no thought at all.

The fact that others patronize doesn't mean you need to swing the scales to negativity. Why not try to illustrate what effective criticism looks like instead of doing the exact same thing those that patronize do, only with a negative slant.

Honestly, it's quite pathetic. There are a lot people that talk shit that don't have the courage to post up their own work. Perhaps they fear someone doing to their work what they do to other's work?

The shit goes full circle man. And you know, if someone is acting like a pompus asshole maybe it's necessary to knock em down a couple pegs. But that certainly doesn't warrant a blanket statement about an entire forum of people that are just trying to express themselves.

So until any of you people who are so eager to hate on others win a pulitzer, or at least post something worthy of the criticism level that you seem to hold everyone else to. Your comments fail to carry any real weight.

    Paka

~ SirRubin - I only chose your quote to illustrate a point. And for what it's worth, I thought the poem you posted 3 years ago was interesting, it's a shame you stopped posting.

~ And yeah, I'm sick of all the angsty poems too. The solution is easy; i don't read them. Where do you think all that angst comes from anyway?

Responses such as "That's a great poem" are not constructive criticism.

Sadly 99% of the responses on that forum are like that.

I posted a poem 3 years ago? Was it the really long one that never ended? That one sucked.

    It's good.

I'd hand out constructive criticisms, but I'm brain tired.

Oh, that one wasn't half as bad.

I must have posted the other one back on the old forums.

Yeah man, I know it's not constructive criticism. And it sucks that people do that but just not going to the forum anymore or hating on isn't going to make that shit go away. So why not DO something about it to try and change it?

And I know the thread was a joke, I was responding to comments from others I've heard not only here but in other threads too. Obviously Isil was joking, he posts in the poetry forum relatively frequently and contributes.

You can't change what is firmly built around you.

Unless you talking of constructive criticisms.
