I need to pluck out my nerve but I am a writer and interested in this subject, it would be odd being a mod overwise

Thank you for identifying yourself as moderator. A moderator would be most helpful to this forum, as we both know. Is there somewhere on a thread's main page where the moderator's username is shown? When I had a recent problem regarding a personal attack, I couldn't find a moderator username, and I wasn't sure where my 'bad post' messages were being directed or if anyone was reading them.

One useful function of a moderator would be to issue warnings with regard to violations of guidelines, when necessary. Banning someone should be a last resort, done only after several warnings.

For example, I enjoy using hipforums.com. From time to time I offend people, let's face it. If I am getting out of line, I would appreciate being warned rather than suddenly find that I'm gone.

well, there's some very basic rules that have nothing to do with the 'TOUCHY-FEELY' debate going on in another thread. but those are listed in the hipforum guidelines, i think.

I have just added something about contacting me on the original message of this thread, heres a link to all the mods on the forums, take note of the supermods at the bottom, these are the people you should contact with general concerns about the forum.

Forum violations are dealt with on an individual basis, so I can't give you a blanket statement or answer this.

what everyone should be doing is have a knowledge of the forum rules and endeaver to work within them at all times.
if you do this you can be more relaxed in the understanding that what you have just said is unlikly to happen

Not on my screen. Also the reference to 'supermods' mentioned in your other post doesn't appear on your entry #1 as promised. There is a "Contact Us" link at bottom which works just fine. Maybe that's what you're referring to.

Yes, the showgroups link in your entry #1 works. Also your username (Samhain) appears at the bottom of the 'Writers Forum' main page as mentioned by Skip above.
You must have your hands full moderating eleven groups.

    Samhain:
I don't know if you're the person to ask or not, but I have a problem with your word processor. When I edit and save a post, it just about always adds extra line feeds between paragraphs. I go back, edit the piece again, eliminate the white space I don't like, and the word processor adds some more, in most cases. Play with this a little by doing several edits and saves on a post having several paragraphs, and you'll see what I'm driving at.

Some word processors, especially the old Wordperfect processor, give you the option of displaying and deleting text modifier bytes. This one doesn't.

There may be someone on hipforums staff who has word processing expertise and can respond properly to this issue, which I've raised before.

I've run into that problem on a lot of boards. Including problems with " and other punctuation coming up as codes. Now I write in Word and then copy and paste into wordpad/notepad, make sure it's they way I want it and then copy it to the post from there.
