Well I was just called by my doctor, and she told me that my holter (sp?) test results just came back. Well she told me that my heart rate is way too fast and that I need to be put on a beta blocker (blood pressure medicine). Not only that the specialist I went to see called to tell me that they forgot to set up my blood work test and that she would get right on it. Basically I go in and give blood, then get pumped with medication. Thirty minutes later they take more blood, and even more 60 minutes later. Lovely.

So anyone have any good news they want to share?

    The good news is....

If (if!!!) there is a real issue there, you are LUCKY to find out now. I'd look into herbals and alternatives. And I'd realize I was lucky to get a forewarning. Many don't.

Yeah I know. I'm just sick of tests. And it sucks ass to be 22 and be told that I need blood pressure medicine.

Try changing your eating habits. And get a second opinion.

I wonder if you can use leeches to reduce blood pressure.

I agree with Lucky, don't let them pump you with medication before looking into alternative treatments/lifestyle changes. Do you smoke or drink?

I eat healthy....well usually not enough. I don't drink or smoke, and I'm active. I'm too tired today to go out and play. I think this has been passed down to me. My mother had to have part of her heart burned when I was younger and she is on bp medication. *shrugs*

I have a friend like that. It's just genetic.

On the positive side, as long as he eats healthy and takes care of himself, it doesn't slow him down at all. He does have to take meds though.

    That's a shitter.

I think that I'm one of those people who'd just rather not know if they have something extremely wrong with them.

Doctors will find any excuse they can to put you on medicine. My heart rate is high, too, but so are many people's. It doesn't mean you're in imminent danger.

I had the test yesterday and it hurt like hell! When the nurse was putting the iv in she had to dig to get to the vien. And the other nurse that was taking my blood almost stuck me in the same spot every time. So now I have another wait to see if my cortisol level is normal, and if not I get to go through more tests. woo fucking hoo.
