First of all... just so you know, you're quote spawned the whole debate/argument...damn you!!!!

    (heh)

but.... i wanna just run up and give you a hug right nwo.... i was trying to tell dan that you can still get pure-breeds at the pound and if not...who cares? i was trying to compare it to fasination with looks in humans, and the disregard of personality. he caught offense. i think cause i brought up his sister (who is breeding dogs).... (shes my sister in law) but come on now.... he should have known it was not a PERSONAL ATTACK on his sister. im not like that.

yeah, hehe, i had to chime in, since i figured that all my bitching about the shelter etc, might have played some part in the argument.

I used to like arguing...I'm still tempted to do it sometimes, but I get MUCH too emotional about it, so I usually avoid it unless it's necessary.

the problem is your argument is wright in essance resrict the number of dogs having puppies

but in principle that involves compolsory desexing of all dogs that are not owned by registered breeders.so that even a quota on the number of pups bred per year can be set this does not mean no cross breeds either just planed and regulated like the pure breeds

the fact that only one quater of shelter dogs are pure bred shows that the problem doesnt lie with the pure bred breeders if it wasnt for all those people gust letting their dogs have pups.

with regulation you could make it that people had to wait for a pet
    from both shelters and breeders

I have a pure-bred dog, and have had no health problems, he's whip smart, and has a great personality.

I think the biggest problem with overpopulation at the shelters comes from PEOPLE. Their kid 'just has to have a puppy', and they get one not realizing how much work it is to make it a good family pet. Then it's 'oh, we'll just take it to the shelter and it'll be alright'. NOT.

I also hate pet stores. Sure, the puppies look cute in the window, but that's no life for a young animal. I feel sorry for them.

i don't think that the problem lies soley with pure breed breeders. there are a lot of people at fault, and i think it is often due to ignorance, not malice.

i don't however, get what the big deal about having a purebred dog is. unless you are looking for a hunting dog, or a shepard, or something along those lines, what difference does it make if your dog is a mutt? many people just want a pure bred dog because it is the equivalent to buying a designer purse.

i think one solution is that everyone should have to have their dogs spayed/neutered, unless they had a liscense to breed. all these dumbasses that want their dog to have puppies, just so their kids can experience "the miracle of birth" should bring the kids down to the shelter to experience the "miracle of euthanization". that's what happens to many of the unwanted puppies and dogs...well at least the ones who don't die of hunger, disease, or get hit by a car.

people should think a lot harder about whether or not they want a pet, before they get them.

we actually had a lady bring back a cat the other day, after having had it one day. her reasoning was that she had decided that she "wasn't really an animal person after all", and that the cat was "in the way". she just returned it like she was returning a shirt at wal mart. she had no regard for that fact that the item that she was returning was a real, living, breathing animal.people are so creepy.

Of course. No one was saying that pure breeds are bad dogs (or cats....yes, it exists with cats)- no one is saying, dont adopt them. the people that breed them are horrible.

Let me give you a simple formula today that I thought of....

Let X= number of unwanted cats/dogs-ready to get euthanized or already are-ACTUALLY, FAWK MY MATH CLASS. THEY'RE TRYING TO MAKE ME FIGURE OUT REAL WORLD WORD PROBLEMS AND I DONT HAVE THE PATIENCE (DAMN, ID BE SO SMART IF I COULD DO MATH)
Let A equal the number of the number of NOT neutured or spayed cats/dogs
Let B equal the number of neutered cats or dogs
    Let C equal that...

trish is too drunk/stoned to admit that and she admits it. she had great thoughts...powerful ones that totally went away, at some point.

THIS IS FAMILY.!!! COME ON ADMIT IT. GATHER THE KIDS. IT'S GREAT
