Haha I know I know! But it had to be done! I had all that crazy wax and it took me like three days of forking through my hair to get all that shit out! My hair used to be super thick but I lost a tonne during the comb out. I literally had five giant handfulls of hair. I went through a TONNE of conditioner! Now that I have them out my hair is like to my chin which is the longest i think ive ever had it. And now that they are out I want to get them back, but without all that waxy junk! And all natural! Seeing the pics of caelynn and her tams makes me want to get my dreads back, and this time i know everything i bombed in the first ones, like putting one in the middle of the front of my head, haha. WAX IS BAD!!! I just thought Id get that point accross, dont even use it once! I was washing my hair every day with like super hot water and after a month, you wouldnt have even known id washed it there was so much wax!
Hmm so going to put my dreadies back in, Im thinking about doing braids and then backcombing those... Anyone have any experience doing this? How did it turn out? Or is this just a really bad idea in general lol.. I think it would be a good one since it kinda tangles all your hair together right off the bat, in theory it works
congrats on getting the wax out i'm still attempting to do that 6 months after one application... didn't want to comb them out back combing a braid is probably not the best idea, but i've got no experience with it.
Well the first couple that my boyfriend did, he twisted two hairs together (half-assed braiding) and backcombed those, and I wouldn't reccomend it because it makes it harder to backcomb, thus, leaving the dreadling very loose, and really, it will just end up looking like a frizzy braid over anything. Plus, would probably end up breaking your comb, because it would be much more difficult to backcomb... I've heard that braiding a few hairs, just at the root helps...but I have no idea, really. I'd suggest not trying anything too wild or complicated like that, and just sticking to plain backcombing... you don't want to have to comb those babies out again!
Yeah, I agree with Apples.. you should stick to doing a standard backcombing (or neglect). I remember finding a thread about the braids thing a few months ago, and I don't think it's recommended
uh...if you braid your hair it will dread. But the dreads will look like braids. It'll be a lumpy braidy dread. Yeah, I say just do it the old fashioned way and leave braids out of it.
Haha ok so no braids, and I dont want to just go for neglect as I want SOME organization ... I think ill just stick with regular old backcombing so i can get those knots tight tight tight to the roots, and after all the lovely backcombing ill do some ripping and twisting and more backcombing I think im going to start washing my hair with sunlight dish soap to totally eff it up for the time being, and ill rinse with vinn-ee and do some salt sprayings. That way when I go to back-comb my hair will already be like BLARG ASSPLODE and backcombing will just be like dead easy. On a side note i have a coffee date at the wonderful timmie hoes tommorow and if things go good im going to try to convince her to get dreads because i think she would look amazing!
