right on. I'm an unschooler. I'm starting university two years earlier. So yeah.. I got out of that shithole of a building where I'm refused my right of peeing and I have to sit under fluorescent lighting all day while teachers attempt to drill things into my head. Instead I get to hang out in the forest, relax, draw and paint all I want, write, read, sleep in (although i don't but I have the option), bake with my friends, go to university if I want and start life a couple years earlier.

hell yeah, fuck compulsory education! I hate school. It's not the fact that I'm there, but that I have to be there. It does'nt help that my school is locked down like a fucking prison(literally). My school(PBC high) is completely decked out with cameras in every hall, drug dogs, a fleet of AP's on golf carts, AP's patrolling the hall every class hour. Whenever you go anywhere within class hours, you need a pass. The only time you don't need a pass is between classes and lunch. It's bullshit. Then we can't even leave school. I can understand putting a fence up, for security reasons, but they've gone too far. In 7th hour, when seniors leave, we have to get our school ID, then our drivers license checked, to make sure we have last hour off. It's fucking rediculous. Then we get in class, where they "prepare us for the real world", yet we can't talk to anyone, we can't work together, we can't go to the bathroom, we can't see our guidance officer, we can't leave class when the bell rings(yes, some teachers actually make us wait till when they say the bell rings). It's bullshit, I hate it so much. The system is dicking us all over and there's nothing we can do about it.

Home schooling is the only way to get educated.

Public schools are simply endoctrination stations.

Teach you how to follow orders and how to accept punishment.

Get out into nature and read. The knowledge of al the greatest minds of all time is at our fingertips.

    Learn something useful.

yea i agree, it is all fucked up. A bit like a dictatorship really, theyre the adults, they make the rules, wer just the students. I mean the schools are there for us, isnt it pure logic, for us to have a say in the education system, the way its run!!?? Im in a french school, and a few months ago there was this huge reorganisation of the education sysytem or smth like that, and the administration of every school had to send off their views on a number of stuff, to be discussed in national assemblies or smth (duno the details). But of course, the students had nothign to do with ne of this !! Its just retarded. They dont even give us the benefit of the doubt, we arent trusted. When u get to 15, 16, 17 and 18, ur not the same as a 10 yr old, u shud be treated differently, more responsability and trust and so on.

Anyway just wanted to say that we werent aloud at all to discuss the Irak war in class, our school director banned it. And of course the teachers dnt wana disobey even if it means thinking for themselves. How can e not be aloud to talk about somethign as important as that!!!???? We have to learn to think for ourselves, and a school is stopping us from doing that! What a totally retarded thing!!!

    Hope this made sense.

Your French school banned talk of the war in Iraq? Did they say why?

    Our Cry

"My name is Michelle and I am making this website because Teens have a voice and we need to use it! My homepage will be a brief introduction into the world-changing event that I am asking you to join in, because I can't do it alone."

"What I am asking you to do is to stop going to school. Think that's crazy...or even worse, that it's illegal? Okay, then. Exit this site right now and return to your nice safe little school. Have I caught your interest? Good.
What I just said might be crazy. And yes, in a few places it is against the law. But school, believe it or not, is crushing you. Instead of helping to to become even one iota of what you are capable, it is destroying your natural curiosity and love of learning. And you CAN do something about it. You can quit and start truly LIVING, doing the things that you want to do, and learning those things which interest you most. "But wait!" I can hear you saying. "It's not that simple!" And you would be quite right. Delve into the depths of this website and I'll tell you more about it, suggest books, movies, and websites that you can check out to learn even more, and offer you a part in what can be a revolution with your help.

Yes, it is not only that I want you to quit your school and start living and enjoying life. I want you to spread the word, to everyone, your friends, your sisters and brothers, anyone at all who is attending school. And once we have enough people, I want you to sit out of your school for an entire week in Protest. I know you think I'm nuts; I would think I was nuts, too, if I didn't know anything except the lies they tell us in school, like "If you drop out, you'll be flipping burgers for the rest of your days," or "The only way to get to college and therefore have a successful career and life is by going to school." Which are both lies. But you don't have to take my word for it. After all, I'm only 15. I'll give you studies done by scientists, Words of Wisdom from those older than I, and site links where you can access hundreds of teens and adults who have never gone to school and talk with them first hand!

I hope that you enjoy my site, but most of all, I hope you join me and add one more voice to Our Cry. Your voice can make all the difference. "

"Our Cry's mission is to spread the word about unschooling, to show everyone that teens have a voice and opinions of their own, and to show all that LIFE is learning. We need to shout it out that we can learn all we need to know without compulsory schooling, that we can live our lives to the fullest and be everything we can be without being stuck insde a classroom for eight hours a day.
Our mission is to redefine the way America thinks about learning, and to throw compulsory schooling out the window. We want to be free to learn on our own, without being monitored and tested to see if we are "up to scratch," and to have a nation of free-thinkers who do not come out of an institution as simply a record on play-back mode.
Our mission is to protest, to fight for our right to do this. We want the freedom to make our own choices and live our own lives! Our cry is "Hell no, we won't go!" Echoeing the slogan of protesters before us.
Our mission is to live, learn, and love the best that we can, without school taking up our time and energy. "

I quit school in January and its just been awesome. I've learned so much and I'm so much happier and I'm starting to be at peace with my family (before when I was in school I wasn't talking to them) I got some great great awesome fabulous friends that are in the same program as me which is

    SELF DESIGN

    :D think bout those words.
and i can't wait to start college and then be outta there and be on with my life with some degrees in my backpack... two years earlier than I would be if I'd been in school.. hell if I'd stayed in school I probably would be flipping burgers later on in life. QUIT NOW!!!! The learning revolution is beginning!!!!

as for the rest... really does depend on the person.

I think it should be non-compulsory - learn the subjects that interest you in your way with teachers that help you when you need it.

I have about 450 people to add to that list. I'm not sure if the kids want their names on the net though. Do you know who Brent Cameron is?

haha darklunacy. I'm going into college and if I was in school I'd be in grade 11. I'm saving myself two years of shit while the rest of the brainwashed kids think precisely what you just posted.

School is nothing but glorified day care. Real societies educate their own children at home, and in the community. The only reason we have school (like it is today) is to let parents have their 9-5, and to keep children out of the job market as long as possible.

Most of the children do in school is busywork. Tell me why kids have to memorize lists of past presidents in order when they could just go look it up if they needed to? Don't make a student who isn't interested in science memorize periodic tables....the ones interested in science will learn them if they need it. S

I say let kids move on to trade schools/college much earlier. Let them be in charge of their own education while parents actually guide them.

I agree with the busywork. Why the hell should I memorize the perodic table, and learn all this complex math bullshit that ill never use.

School helps those that would not have education any other way. The kids with the moms working 2 jobs, with no money to support them staying at home and buying books and computers. You gota realize some kids don't even have computers. Some kids don't even have damn TVs.

If you're rich and can afford home school, i'd say do it.

you don't need to be rich to homeschool. I'm an example. And I get $1000 to pay for books, mentors, college course (lol maybe one!), but I also have lots of time for a job for paying for anything above and beyond that.
