Hey Adderall-I found a good download site and cuz ya helped me on the Bit Torrent I thought I'd see if you have checked this out-It actually is a pay to download site but the price is nothing-like 20.00 bucks for 2 years-unlimited-At first I was pissed cuz after downloading it and payin them 'I find out they use free torrent site for the source-They use Torrent Spy but they have their own program that somehow pulls the torrents in real fast-It doubled the normal download speed for me-I have DSL and some files were taking days to finish-Not anymore-they claim the speed is 200 times faster- I don't know about all that but it is definately a big improvement-At first I was gonna get my money back until I finished setting it up and giving it a try-Best 20 I ever spent!-I don't how they do it-they sy they have exclusive access to the torrents-I don't really know how they make it come through so fast but -I am able to DL maybe 5 videos overnight!-For DSL thats fantastic!-Check it out if you never have -

that doesnt look too bad. in their FAQ it says they support Windows, Mac, and Linux. the server seems pretty fast too. i guess maybe they have a couple servers with a nice T-carrier line to serve customers.

it is nice to hear a good testimony about a pay site. i wonder about some but downloading 5 DVD quality movies in a night is a miracle. that is over 20 gig in a night.

i see one problem though... my 300 gig hard drive isnt big enough. hehe

 

Well-actually' the movies are about 1.5 each 'so it's around 7 gbs a night-It looks like I can adverage around 3 movies in 10 hrs-it is the fastest one I've found and the source is the also the best-alot to choose from-very few duds!-but-like everything on the net' it can change in a minute and start getting junk files comin through-maybe they have a way of screening out bogus files.

Installing the Program & Configuring it for top speeds



You will see a new installer icon on your desktop. Double click on it and install it as any other program. Make no changes during installation. After installation, you will see a new green icon on your desktop.

Configure it for top download speeds (windows only)


Launch the program (remember, don't search with it!) just configure it now.

Select its Preferences tab



Select Connection and you will see a dialog like the one below



On the General Settings area, choose "No Limit" for the Global Max Download Rate.
On the General Settings area, choose anything from "10" to "20" for the Global Max Upload Rate.

Note: If you want to use this program as a direct downloader, simply select "0" for Global Max Upload Rate.


Click on Ok to save your changes.


Close the program.



Search for your favourites and Download them



At this point, you should have never used the software. You only should have opened for configuration purposes and then closed it when you finished.

Searching is very easy.

As an example, we are going to search for music.
Let's search for the Rolling Stones!

A window like the one you see below will open and we write "Rolling Stones" in the search dialiog.





SEARCHING:

After clicking on the orange "GO" button (figure above), all search results for the "Rolling Stiones" will be shown on a list, as you see in the screenshot below.

RECOGNIZING YOUR ITEM:

As you see on the sample search screenshot above, you will receive an accurate description for every file found. This way, you will be able to recognize immediately the file you are looking for among all results obtained.
This is especially useful when searching for games, since you will be able to see exactly if a certain download is for PS1. PS2, Xbox, or any other platform.


DOWNLOADING:


Once you have found what you want, simply click on its description and you will be taken to the download area where you will find a "DOWNLOAD" button or link as the one below.



As soon as you click on it, the software that you previously downloaded and installed, will launch itself. You will have to accept 2 dialogs before the download will actually start, as shown below.

After clicking the button above, the program wil ask you where you want the download to be saved. You will see a window as the one below:





Click on ("aceptar" in the screenshot) and the program will start processing your download.

Attention: Your download will land in c:/ Program Archives / Bitlord / Downloads

However, by clicking the "Browse" button you can select a different download location.



You will be able to observe the process of your download by clicking on the Transfer tab of the software (bitlord). Once the process is finished, you will find your download in the following directory of you computer:

My Pc/ Program Archives / Bitlord / Downloads

It may look complicated at the beginning, but as we have provided here step by step instructions, you will have to read more than actually do.

Every line on the chart represents a download from a different source.
You can choose to click any source out of your results and start downloading, but we suggest hat you take a look to the results obtained on your search and select a "Healthy" download source to guarantee fast downloading of your item.

A HEALTHY SOURCE WILL HAVE A HIGH NUMBER OF "Files", A GOOD NUMBER OF "S" AND A LOW NUMBER OF "D"

In other words, a source with high number of Files and servers, and a low number of downloaders to make sure the servers are not busy and grant you good download speeds. Makes sense, right?

Adderall-Have you forwarded ports? Is it really worth the hastle to speed up the downloads?

 

yes i have. you dont need to worry about it unless you are on a private network. in example, you have a router setup in your house, WIFI or wired. basically, any node on a private network can have a speed and "routed" advantage with tunneling/port forwarding.

your disadvantage is a big security thing. if you use windows, i recommend that you dont use port forwarding. if you use OSX or Linux then you can safely use port forwarding on that machine.

my current setup is actually a WIFI router that is "routed" with another wired router and my computer is outside the NAT. basically that means i have forwarded all my ports, but i use Linux.

port forwarding is powerful, bad it needs respect too.

 

OK -Think I'll pass on it-When I was using Bit Comet I was going through the steps to set it up but because I have dsl and a modem/router-it's router capable I guess is what they call it-but ' the Portforward.com instructions said to update the router with new firmware. I called Qwest to get some advice on it and they would'nt tell me anything-They said they don't support port forwarding or making changes to the router-and if something goes wrong' then I get to buy the next one.--I've been looking around and I found a review site for the same type pay download site I got-They all run about the same way-they use the torrents along with their own software-they even include the burners and converters with it-so it's pretty good as it's all in one-Ya know I asked LG Software-1Click DVD ' why they did not team up with VSO Software Convert X to DVD- I asked them that a year ago and they did not like the idea-It just seemed a natural to combine the burning software with the converting-Well' they should have because I just found 10 different companies that are selling the whole package -all in one-You download-convert and burn all with the same companys software-nice-Ok-So far- the drawbacks have been this-Tech support is virtually non-existant-None have a phone-they say they have tech support 24-7 but I've sent 3 emails starting a week ago and have not heard a thing-I like good tech support and both LG and VSO are real good about getting back to ya right away-usually the same day-plus they both have support forums which 'the one I just joined does not-The other thing I don't like is the fact that they say they are not a p2p site' yet they use p2p software-All the searches are with different torrent sites-it then switches the torrent into their own program for downloading and thats where they kick up the speed limit-I just don't really like the idea of all take and no give-they say your not in a file sharing program- and your not-because you don't share with these-ya just take!-lol-sounds lousy ha?-Well- I don't like bein a leach so I leave the files on there-I have the room-350gb-but-you can see why it may really start taking longer to finish a download if you have alot more takers then givers-To be fair they should tell people how it really works and that they should be sharing the files-they don't-I may write em and ask about that-it could screw up the ratio-

 

Are those free Torrent sites legit?Like can I trust them.Or are the files filled with viruses?

 

I never had any problems with them. Their files are much better then Limewire or the others. Not many fake files in there. As long as you have virus protection and a firewall' you'll be fine. Remember to configure the firewall to let it through or you will neve rget anything comin through. I used Bit Comet and Utorrent-If you have cable' those are fast to download. I have dsl and thats why I went with the pay version as it speeds things up.Their safe though.As far a the law goes-it is not legal to copy any copy-righted files without per,ission. You'll have to read their statements on that.-Not all files have copyrights.

 

Morning Maniac-Of course-as you know' nothining is ever really free-Even though the free download sites have all the music-games and movies you'll ever need-You do have a small expense for the the burning and converting software. Most movies you download will play on your pc but not on your dvd player. There are a few free burners and converters out there but they are not real easy to use-and the end result can be real frustrating.I tried alot of different ones and the best out there and the most popular is Convert X to DVD-after the download you use this program to convert it from it's current format to DVD so you can watch it-it then burns it to disk for you-use good blanks-I like Maxell DVD-RW or Sony DVD-RW-their less then a buck a piece and I reuse them over and over-The hardest part of this is the many different formats these movies are in-I use 3 different conversion programs to change them to DVD-not any one program covers all the different formats-or I haven't found any that do-another good convertor/burner is DVD Santa-good luck-
