I think this is an interesting article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16906168/

But even more interesting is the 65% (nearly 4,900 voters) who voted "Yes" on the poll in the middle of the page.

Obviously, it'd be pointless to post such a poll anywhere in the Hipforums.... but I would never have expected such an overwhelming majority anywhere outside of foxnews.

Logically, that would be because our society would then have to actually take this whole "war" thing, that we seem to understand so greatly, as a serious matter, in that case, which we have done thus far.

Oh wait a tic... I think I smell a nice warm cup of mochacized bullshit calling my name. Nevermind, then.

The US would have never entered Iraq if it had universal suffrage.

Yeah, a lot in the left were starting to get into that during the 2006 midterms.

I would have no problem with mandatory service if the US was indeed a neutral country but never under the terms it is now.

Well, that poll isn't exactly a portrait of how the people of the U.S. feel about the issue, as the people being polled aren't chosen randomly. But no, I don't think that the U.S. should enact required military service--that doesn't sound like a very 'free' nation to me.

Hell, I'd even be in support of making high school optional. Honestly, let's admit it--some people really are too stupid and unmotivated for high school. If we really want to improve our nation's intelligence level in the world, why don't we crank up the difficulty level and let the rejects decide if they're up to the challenge?

    Did that sound harsh? :D

Yeah, on those terms, it'd be sort of like gun control... criminals will get guns either way and commit crimes with them while the people with concealed weapon permits don their stetsons and alpaca-hide holster-vests. :D   Where'd all the cowboy go, Mr. Hat?
