There is no such thing as "American." I brought this up to the class in summer school today. The only true American's are the Natives that lived here so long before we came. We should actually call eachother thieves, because we stole the fucking land right out from under them. God Damn that shit makes me mad. Imagine only Native American's living in all of North America, and it was their own country, (Never Stolen). You would be living in Europe or wherever you came from, and if you left by boat, you could join an Indian tribe over there and actually live free. I wish I could, don't know about you.

This is one of the most naive things I've seen posted on here in a long time... granted I haven't been around the hip forums much lately. "Only Native American's living in all of North America, and it was their own country"? Are you kidding me? There were hundreds of different nations throughout the continent and they were just as likely to steal land from each other. The only thing that sets European settlers apart is the fact that they werer able to eventually conquer the entire continent. Assuming that you have european heritage, you should be glad they did too because Europe is crowded enough as it is, imagine what it would be like today if they hadn't gone to North America.

seeing as it did not become "America" until european settlers discovered developed, and named it. The word "America" meant nothing to the natives living there at the time

Well what would you like me to call America? How the hell do I know what the Indians referred to it as? Indians had tribes, not nations, wtf. Whenever someone posts something that they think everyone justs criticizes to the maximum.

I know, everyone's playing rough lately. White people in general think everything is theirs for the taking. But there sure are "Americans". We all are Americans. It's bizarre when asked "where do you come from?" we respond "Well my grandparents are from blah blah blah". If you were born here, you are an American and everything else that goes along with the word

Im 1/16 Native American. And whoever said there are no successful Native Americans that is probably the most ignorant racist thing I have ever heard in my life.

"Native american" really doesnt have anything to do with america, if anything it just refers to a time before the country was formed, they were the natives to the land, therefor once it became america, they were the native americans, although it's kind of a forced title, it doesnt really mean anything

 

Pal, if you can tell me the difference between a tribe and a nation I will bow down before you. And you're damn right people criticize posts like this because it is so one sided and shallow. You basically said it pisses you off that you're European ancestors raped and pillaged the native Americans and completely ignored the fact that the same thing had been going on throughout their history (and the history of basically every other large group of people). It's ignorant to ignore the whole rest of human history so that you can point out how angry you are at your ancestors because they dominated other societies. If you want to be angry at someone, you should look at the broader picture and see that it is the nature of the human race that whenever two groups of people disagree on what the balance of power should be, one of those groups almost always gets their shit pushed in. Otherwise, you sound just as immature as the schmelt who said that Native Americans are inherently lazy, good for nothing, slobs.
