when i look at the ages of the people who have replied to this thread, i have to laugh. guess i'm old enough to be almost everyone's (gasp!) grandmother. i first saw joan baez as a kid in the early 60's. she was the queen of folk at the time and bob dylan was the unknown. she was and still is such an admirable person...never having given up her fight for civil rights and justice for everyone on the planet. what most people don't know about her, is that she has a great sense of humour and is hysterically funny. it does my older heart good to see so many of you are fans of hers and her amazing voice. wishing those of you who are going to see her live for the first time, a fantastic time. i know you'll love the concert!

Oh my Gosh!!!! Joan Baez is my most favorite female artist. i used to sing to her album my big brother had. His band went to Woodstock but didn't get to play. They jammed off stage with some other musicians anyhow. Something went wrong so they didn't get on stage. Ken had an album and one of her song books. I saw her perform on Austin City Limits once with Emmylou Harris and it was awesome. My brother Kenny wanted to take me to Woodstock but my mama squashed the deal at the last minute. His girl Jeanine and her dad said they would be responsible but Mom said no anyways. That was after I managed to come up with the hundred bucks for the trip. I was just a kid. I blackmailed my stepdad. Then he renigged on giving me the money once I didn't get to go. This sure takes me back. I would have done anything to be there and to have seen her live. Peace, Cricket
Absolutely lovely voice, and very sweet persona. I love her singing "Silver Dagger"... it arouses emotion. Anyone heard her version of "Don't think twice, it's alright?"
I agree with *unlearn.to.be.free*. Silver dagger is my favourite, in-fact the whole of her debut is....
Hi everyone! I went to her concert last night....great!!!! she has such an amazing voice and she seems to be such a great person. I wish I could go and see her again tonight.
Joan Baez is my fave female singer ever. One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. Songs like 'Love is just a four-letter word' or 'The partisan', 'Gracias a la Vida', 'Forever Young' are gems.
i love Joan Baez and Bob Dylan (especially their duets) and I play the guitar, lots of folk songs and some rock-ish things, like People have the Power, all on acoustic of course I plan to leave for New York city as soon as I turn 18, and get a job as singer in the Village, therefore I could go to the Newport Folk Festival. Joan and Bob are icons for me, especially her.
