Procreation is immoral because life is suffering and it is immoral to perpetuate suffering. Life is a priori suffering for three main reasons:

1.) One must survive in some way (usually in a societal context of jobs, but could be something as simple as hunting-gathering, shelter building, etc.) and this fact of life is a major form of suffering.

2.) After the work of maintaining survival levels and comfort levels, we get bored because our big evolutionary brains need to be occupied with some contrived goal (obviously this does not apply to ferrel children, the mentally handicapped, etc..)

3.) Besides survival, boredom there are all the little mini goals that we have to pursue to avoid suffering.

In addition to these a priori reasons, there are all the various feelings and emotional states of pain that come from dealing with other people, with natural disasters, diseases, etc..

If one is to choose a) to bring a being into this world of suffering or b) not bringing a being into the world of suffering, the moral choice is to not bring the being into the world of suffering.

if someone takes the judeo christian moral set, then not procreating is immoral.

saying that all life is is suffering is a very buddhist thing to do, and factually wrong.
although i do suffer somewhat, i'm happy, life is all in all worth it.

Eugene, please visit the anti-procreation website link. It explains my philosophy of pessimism in more depth (please excuse any grammatical errors). It is hard elaborate fully on these forums my whole philosophy. My premise of life being suffering might sound undeveloped and confusing from what I have written in the last post. However, if you visit http://www.anti-procreationmovement.blogspot.com you can see more clearlywhere I am coming from.

Because if i stay alive i can spread the word of life's inherent suffering. Think of it as an annihilationist Utilitarianism. The greatest good is had by staying alive and telling the most people I can about why having a child is wrong. I believe anti-procreation is an objective true that is true even if at this moment someone might feel life is worth living. I realize that this kind of truth is not exactly empirical. However, with the right introspection and reasoning one can come to this conclusion based on facts of the existence of boredom, the need to survive and the need to turn away from boredom with pursuits of entertainment.

lol... why, so we could then have some mass suicide?

why dont you become a suicide bomber? that way you can bring a bunch of us with you.

life is not suffering for all of us. just because it seems that way for you does not make it so for everyone else. reality is somewhat subjective and most likely your life seems like hell because you deserve it for some reason.

maybe you could try to find the bright side and find some meaning to your pathetic life. if you can not find the bright side that is because for some of us hell is right here on earth. you are in hell because you want it that way.

i myself will have children, and when they are smiling and laughing and loving life i will feel grateful that i am not in your shoes!

good luck with this life buddy - YOUR GOING TO NEED IT!
