...to get out of the city. I've known my daughter's best friend Olivia since she was 11. Her father is also a friend. They are native american and they really helped me cope with some bad shit about 8 years ago just with their love, support and spirituality. We all lost our apartments and jobs at about the same time. George and Olivia and George Jr moved to a row house in Baltimore, I sent my kids to live with my sister for 3 months, lived in my van and saved up enough to get another apartment. Olivia met a nice guy who had just come back from Iraq, he got out of the military and, like me, told them to shove it. They got engaged. They got jobs at competing convenience stores, got their own little rowhouse in the city. They both worked 11-7 shift, about a mile apart. At the end of her shift this morning, two men came into the Royal Farm store where Olivia worked and robbed the place at gunpoint. After they left, she ran out into the parking lot to get their license plate number. The robbers ran her down in the middle of Route 1 like a deer on the interstate. She's been at UM Shock Trauma in surgery since 10am. Humans really suck. Willing to kill a beautiful, gentle, young woman over stupid little pieces of green paper with pictures of slaveowners on them. Is it any wonder I want to move to the mountains of WV and fence myself off from the rest of the world??? I can't remember the last time I was this angry.
Thats terrible, I completely agree. I am constantly in awe about the things people do. I hope she pulls through. I also think people are often even more psycho out in the country though.

I don't know. It's in the one of the poorest neighborhoods in South Baltimore, they're paying more attention to some bronze who got hit by a car over the weekend. Not even any news coverage. Typical. Mayor O'Malley is trying to get elected governor of Maryland, he could give a shit about the citizens of Baltimore. EDIT: Whoops, I don't watch TV or read newspapers. O'Malley was elected Governor a year ago. The new mayor, according to what I just read, is placing all her emphasis and effort on improving the poorer neighborhoods of North East Baltimore. Good for her. Nothing like more elitist, preferential treatment. It's what has kept the city alive for over 300 years.
Truly terrible, sorry to hear that... nothing I can truly say. I think we all escape this reality in some way... going to the mountains would be a more concrete obvious way to escape the horror and pain of this silly world. Some of us who have softer hearts are much more affected by it then others... but yet again, everyone escapes... everyone. TV, drugs, etc... I don't need to list the obvious ways... It's a sad reality when everyone lives in a world in which they base their life around escaping from this same world. This is why the idea of heaven is so appealing to people... a perfect escape. Human kind is a sad species... a species born to such pain.
I'm sorry to hear about Olivia. As far as moving to WV I don't think you'd be sorry about the move. I've been here a while and just got another place farther out.
I'm looking at a cooperative some friends have in Arnoldsburg (near Spencer). They have 68 acres. I want to build that hobbit house someone posted two weeks ago. And have several large dogs trained to eat anyone who breaks my tranquility... Or maybe a tiger.
aw, man, i so so sorry. do you have a punching bag? hitting inanimate things while visualizing people i want to kill had really helped me.
Update from Hospital: Olivia was in surgery for over 6 hours. She has a fractured pelvis, two broken ribs and had a hip replacement because the SECOND time they ran her over they sheared off the bone just below her hip socket. And she got out of bed by herself an hour ago. She's one tough kid.
AWESOME. hopefully recovery goes well for her. i imagine it's going to be really painful for a while.
That sucks, I live north of Baltimore and occasionally work there when rugby tournies are going on, and damn I hate Baltimore. I honostly think that they have already done such a shitty job, they should just stop governing it at all. Kids ride on the STREETS on unliscenced dirtbikes, 4wheelers, scooters, go-karts, and it is AGAINST THE LAW for the cops to try and catch them. I sware, next thing you know they will be handing out heroin at the Science Center, and selling guns at Highs. Truly sorry about you friend, glad to hear she is duking it out. I don't think I would have the willpower to walk only a day after being it. With so many broken bones. Just hurts to think about it. Maybe she will get lucky and they will perscribe Fentanyl. Thanks Mab. Thanks Vactom. I really, really hate the city and I don't use that word lightly. And I don't even live inside the city. But we have dirtbikes, 4wheelers and those little chainsaw engine powered scooters all over my neighborhood, kids get hurt, property gets destroyed and no one cares. Going to WV for Solstice this weekend. I hope Spencer turns out to be a nice town and I can find suitable building site. Gotta get outta here.
